WTF?

It really is so WTF, and even WTF-er is that paid campaign consultants thought this would make him look good.

I think that ad tanked Segura for any Independent women. Let's see how long before he puts his house up for sale. Bookmarking this thread for when that inevitably happens.

Dems: “Republicans don’t support life of mother abortion exceptions!”
Segura: “I support life of mother abortion exceptions and have a personal story that deeply affected me”
Dems: “you monster!”

I think you’ve misunderstood the medical issues. She did not have an abortion. She had a d & c to remove dead fetal remains. I had the same procedure. Even my very pro life Irish grandmother who was literally born in the 19th century told me I should get the procedure (she lost her uterus due to retained fetal remains after a miscarriage during the depression). My pro life mom also told me to have the d & c. This is totally different from an exception in an abortion law to save the life/health of a mother.

This is exactly right, and a perfect description of why I was so disgusted by the ad. It was deliberately misleading. It was designed to give the impression that Segura supports abortion exceptions for “life of the mother“ when it had nothing to do with that. The fetus was already dead. There was no “choice“ involved. This was strictly a medical procedure.

To be sure, there are some anti-abortion misogynists (redundant phrasing, I know) who oppose a D&C even in the case of a miscarriage. So maybe JPS is a tiny bit evolved from that position.

But what a great guy, giving his permission for a woman to “choose” to have a medical procedure.

Words can’t express how proud you, Juan Pablo, have made us and how you represented yourself, your family, and your beliefs. It took alot of courage to put yourself out there, courage that very few people have. There are even fewer people that can handle such disappointment with dignity and grace. There is immense glory out there for you. Don’t ever forget that! We love you and will support you forever

It does not take “courage“ for the wealthy son, of a billionaire with no ties to a district to move. They are an attempt to impose his outdated extremist right wing views on an entire state. It also takes no “courage” to place a shameful ad late in the campaign when he sees the writing on the wall that deliberately tries to mislead voters into thinking he produces exceptions to an abortion ban. And his wife is no better for her role in that charade. The two of them should be ashamed of themselves. If they had such great character, they would be truthful in their ads and accept the chips where they fell.

+1

And “courage”
Please.

+eleventy. What the hell, first PP? He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He hasn't needed courage even for a second in his life.

I wonder how long until that ridiculous town house of his is on the market or rented.

He and his wife will continue living in DC until their kid is old enough for school. Then they will probably go private. Granddad will pay for it.

Loudoun Republicans will find some black Trump supporter to run for Weston’s seat next year since they clearly think getting a person of color who happens to support right-wing policies will somehow magically win affinity votes or guilt liberals into voting for “diversity.” (I have actually heard that argument made by clueless Republicans).

I do not live in VA, but I really liked R. Perry's commercials. I liked how sassy she was. Glad she won.

That one site is off. That's not an accurate number at all.

Women's rights FTW tonight.

+1 We had a 93% voter turnout.

No, that’s the site that’s wrong. Please stop promoting it. Voter turnout is never ever that high. 50% would be crazy high. That site is incorrect.

You think the state election site is wrong?

Yes, and now they have fixed it. The ignorance is astounding. Even 46% turnout in a year with no pres/senate/house/gov on the ballot is shockingly good.

Ok so now you are ok with the site because the data has been updated after all polling sites are in. So no need for hysterics around the linking of a state election site.

I’m not hysterical. I just couldn’t believe how many people blindly believed there was a 93-99% turnout without question. That lack of general knowledge around elections is so frightening. Everyone should have immediately known that was an error.

2020 was record breaking voter turnout and it was 66%.

I mean,by the way the PP phrased it, it's like Juan Pablo came back from the war. Also, side eyeing "glory."

I talked to both candidates when they were campaigning and if I was voting on congeniality alone I would have voted for Segura. He does seem like a nice guy. But nope, don't want anyone with his agenda to have any kind of legislative power. I'm relieved the potato won.

Segura lost lol. It’s great.
