fcybl zip code

It's even worse if the club in that one zip code doesn't field teams for your kid's gender or age group. It looks like they cleaned it up a little this year and eliminated some defunct clubs and clubs without rec programs

Where did they get rid of?

If there is no team for your kid in-xone, the league will make an exception.

Went to tryouts tonight and there were easily three times as many kids as last year. Its the same coach so hopefully he feels some loyalty to his previous players but it was just not what we expected.

hopefully the coach gives every player new and old a fair chance to make a team

"loyalty" to former players ??

Yes, of course. Coaches prefer players they know, have coached, like, and are familiar with. Are you new to human nature?
To make a team and take a spot from a previous player, a new kid has to be one of the best 5.

favoritism is common in human nature, not new to me
new player who ranks 6/10 has to be top 5 in order to make team over previous players ranked 7 8 9 10?
thats not a team or coach I'd want to play for or with if I had choices

good players have choices

To play in this particular league, great players have choices. Good players usually have to get in with their assigned zip code teams.

And yes, absolutely, most of the time, a new player rated 6/10 will not be selected over previous players 7-10.

A lot of coaches prefer loyalty (its two ways) over players who hop from team to team every year.

Coaches aren't going to mess with team chemistry for an unknown kid who the expect to only get limited minutes. If you have a 9th or 10th player who doesn't complain about minutes, practices hard, and is popular with teammates, you aren't cutting them for another kid who may be better, but would still be the 9th or 10th player

new 9/10 doesn't beat out old 9/10 understood

most of you have a rude awakening in high school or aau if you ever get there and certainly not beyond

I was responding to PP saying that a good coach takes the 10 best. That's almost never the case and there are often good reasons. My kid starts for an EYBL team and has been everything from their team's star to not getting any minutes through out their time playing. I think it's healthy for kids to experience the spectrum

new 6/7/8 doesn't usually beat out well-liked old 9/10.

no one ever said the coach would take 10 best, they were responding to person who said a coach would only take new players if they were starters/top 5
eybl is not fcybl

Its easier to make most AAU teams than some of these fcybl teams. They will take your money and plop your kid on the bench and then you can brag and say your kid plays "AAU". LOL.

My son's HS coach absolutely selected a few of his players based on non-skill reasons--team chemistry, a kid who is a very hard worker, a kid with a lot of potential, etc.

Send your girl to tryouts for the Stars and see how that goes for them

"Most AAU teams". I'm assuming the Stars is very competitive.
