How has Karl Frisch raised $371,559 for his campaign, when . . .

Anonymous
Some of Karl's donators:
$465 Cohen, Laura Jane

$500 Tholen for Fairfax County School Board - Elaine

Weird that they all donate to eachother's campaigns.

How do this many people support someone with no children in the system? It blows my mind.

I actually worked at my kid's school bakesale at the polls where these people got elected.

It was 100% an anti trump vote. Most people voting the day I was there were pretty vocal about it. I had never seen anything like it. They were openly saying things like blue no matter who, and that they didn't care who was running or what their qualifications were, as long as they weren't from trumps party. It was really weird, to be honest.

That is how we ended up with a school board full of folks like Frisch. It was not a school board vote. It was an anti trump election.

Wait - Frisch has no educational experience or background, does not have any children, is not from FFX county, and does not even have a college degree?

Why is this person directing our children’s education then? It does not make any sense.

Exactly

He is a gay. Fairfax school board need a G. This is for diversity. This year's election will bring a L and a B。People are looking forward to T, Q,A+ candidates in the near future.

Tell me you don’t understand how private schools work without telling me you don’t understand how private schools work.

... but I did have breakfast this morning!

Anyway, the PP who posted "This current board has been very good for the local private schools" is pointing out that local privates have been adding a large number of seats to make room for students whose parents are pulling them out of public schools, and the board bears some responsibility for the reasons parents have been pulling their children out of public schools.

You are totally out of line. I didn't have kids until I was 42 but I was fully invested in my community and fully committed to public education (even taught for 7 years before burning out) so I cared deeply about the school system long before I had kids. You don't have to spawn to care about good schools. In fact, since he isn't distracted by child rearing, he has more time to devote to the work.

Every time I see people commenting on Frisch not having kids, it reads to me like an anti-gay dog whistle.

FWIW, my understanding is that his husband is a teacher. So that gives him even more skin in the game than a parent, and more quality knowledge from the reality inside a school and the system at large. I'd take that as a personal family qualification more than being the random parent of a 5th grader.

You are 100% on point with your comment here. The anti-gay dog whistles abound when folks talk about Karl Frisch.

He represents my kid's school, and he does an excellent job. Also, he knows FCPS policy like the back of his hand, which is critical for a school board member. He follows the rules, is student-focused, and has done a great job.

Nah. Rightwing media has done a great job of convincing a handful of parents that CRT, SEL, and transgender kids are dangerous. THAT is why they are pulling their kids.

Homeschool co-ops grew as well.

Thanks for the chuckle.

I hope Providence voters come to their senses this year and vote for his opponent.

Just because someone’s husband is a teacher does not make them a teacher.
My hubby is a special agent with the feds, does not make me a special agent.
People on the board should have an education background like a teacher or have a child in the school district.

EVERY SINGLE TIME anyone criticizes Karl Frisch someone comes on here claiming homophobia. This criticism has absolutely nothing to do with his sexual orientation. This guy is so VERY clearly just a political hack who is using the school board as a stepping stone into state politics (and maybe some day national politics). Just like his friend Dalia. I've posted this before but when he was going door to door, he LIED to me and said he had children in FCPS. Flat out lied. I am so ashamed that I voted for him.

I like Dalia.

Not PP but I agree. I also don’t like Omeish. I think people without kids that join SB are in it for the politics not because they don’t have skin in the game with their kids at school. I think voters should avoid selecting candidates without kids in the schools.

Most people who have kids in the schools are too busy to run for school board. And I don't want them making policies that favor their kids' schools or their kids' particular interests/programs. I don't think it's an important criteria at all.

Fritsch's opponent is Anthony Arthur Sabio. If you go to Ballotpedia you get a questionnaire from him. https://ballotpedia.org/Anthony_Arthur_Sabio

Right away you get a right-wing talking point and it just gets repeated from there. Unequivocally eliminates him from ever being in consideration for my vote.

Protecting parents' rights is a priority. Schools should concentrate on education and leave teaching family values to the parents.

More like tell me you don't know anything about Falls Church without telling me you don't know anything about Falls Church. Sweetheart, a lot of local private schools added seats since Covid.

Do you think more families in FC moved to private compared to other areas in the county? If so, what makes you think that? Not being snarky, but interested.
