The Wharf - disgusting

Weed is psychotropic and a carcinogen. You don’t have the right to expose people to those risks because of your recreational choices. Eat a gummy, dimwit.

I also voted against it because marijuana is not this benign thing everyone is making it out to be. It can be addictive and it can have significant negative psychological effects. I don’t want people sitting in jail for years because of marijuana possession but we could’ve prevented that without totally legalizing it

I second this opinion completely!

Are you in favor of outlawing alcohol as well?

Buyer's remorse in full effect. I voted against legalization in MoCo, but it passed, and now, sure enough, downtown Bethesda and SS are smelling like D.C. It's disgusting. The lobbying campaign that pot was harmless, etc. was wildly effective. It'll be a decade before enough political will is summoned to return to sanity.

You need to get your ANC together and push for change. Some areas have outlawed public pot smoking.

You can't outlaw someone's medical needs.

A medical need to smoke it in public? Sure, @sshat

Seriously people. Relax. And yes I live in DC and no I'm not one of the potheads in question.

I've definitely smelled it from other cars and it's wafted into my car many times. So I open my windows for a few seconds and blast it out, and move on with my life.

I've smelled it all manner of public places and maybe even walked through a cloud or two. It does not stick to your clothes and hair from a momentary, or even several minute encounter. You're exaggerating. You are not going to get a "contact high" or pop a positive on a work drug test, your children are not going to get stoned from intermittent or a passing encounter with outdoor second hand smoke.

Yea, it's a strong smell and it's definitely bad manners/inconsiderate to smoke in a manner and place that it in close proximity to the general public. But it's not the calamity most of you here are making it out to be.

Speak for your yourself. For me it triggers migraines.

NP. I also get migraines from smoke (any kind) and perfumes. Yes, it is really annoying. That being said, downtown DC isn’t anyway near the smog filled misery this thread is making it out to be. Pot is stinky but so is tobacco and both of them are socially acceptable to smoke in public. At least unlike perfumes people don’t smoke inside.

Oh I know. I live and work in DC. I just love all of the drama on this site.

No I didn't. My guess is that the people who voted for it are now living in the suburbs.

Maybe in VA, because it's legal in MD.

LOL. A decade? Try a generation, at least.

We went early in the summer and saw a show at the arena. We had a great time. My teen said they could smell weed but I could not smell anything.

Maybe I just don’t know the smell terribly well but I really enjoyed the wharf ambience. Sorry it gave you a head ache!

What worries me about weed is what drug dealers lace it with these days.

You are a democrat, which means you want it this way.

You voted for this! Now stop complaining.

Ha ha. Not a democrat. It pains me to live in Montgomery County

Every republican I know were all for legislation. They want pot and guns.

It’s legal. It is sold in stores.
