And they look ugly. They have ugly plastic on their feet. And I don’t believe every girl is wearing crocs. There is probably a small group of girls who love fashion and refuse to buy something ugly just to fit in. The future leaders of America! Or at least during fashion weeks. |
Brands just aren’t as important these days IMO.
Almost all of my somewhat “popular” kid’s clothes are no-name from Amazon. She likes cropped baby tees with cute little prints or embroidery on them. Wears with lulu knock off leggings and shorts or cargo pants. |
Ugly or not, that's what they're wearing. I can guarantee our teen fashion in the 80s was ugly too. |
Is this from your dd or you? I'm sure glad you have your priorities straight! |
In middle school? There was some horrible haircuts but not too many But was worn by “everyone “ as so many claim. |
People from other places can comment and start posts. |
I’d love to see pictures of you and your fashion choices when you were 11-14, I’m sure you looked fabulous ![]() |
Best dressed in high school. My daughter was also best dressed in middle school and high school (they actually did middle school awards). I don’t remember anything item of clothing that everyone wore in school, there was a lot of variety. Neither of us went into any trends. There have been posts that said everyone wore crocs. I find that hard to believe and hopefully these girls new to middle school will find clothes that make them happy, not a carbon copy of everyone else. |
The fact that you are touting best dressed awards both for yourself and your child while referring to other children’s clothing as ugly tells me all I need to know about who you are as a person. |
You asked. Don’t get all insulting because you don’t like the answer. And by middle school the girls have to know that crocs are ugly hard plastic blobs with holes that they put on their feet with that cheap plastic doing their feet no favor. Just because I love fashion and I told my daughter most kids don’t care too much about fashion and that’s their choice, nothing wrong with it either way. But when insecure mothers asking about cool clothes they should buy their child it’s not helpful claiming that everyone wears crocs and so that means they should. |
Middle aged moms are in Vejas now. |
Beach tshirts? Do you mean tshirts from popular beach areas? |
Yikes. |
Whoa! What schools in this day and age give awards for best dressed? Even mildly progressive public schools wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot poll because it's essentially an award for having parents who have money and are generous with it. That's as bad as these asinine "kindness" awards that somehow always go to mean kids. Sorry for the derail. |
Fwiw, my daughter & her friends—all UMC—really don’t seem to care about brands or ‘fashion’. They like what they like & prefer comfort over trendy. Once the cold weather hits, they are in joggers & hoodies nonstop.
The most fashion-forward of the bunch seems to favor an eclectic mix of crop tops and ripped denim. |
