DD is about to start middle school. We are new to town and we'd like to give her every advantage possible.
What's brands/items are hot among middle school girls now? I've gotten good responses here in the past and would really appreciate helpful input. |
What type of school? Public, private, mostly UMC? |
What state are you in? DCUM posters are not all located in the DMV area. |
UMC to wealthy. Public with a lot of kids coming from private elementary schools. |
Which group do you want her to be in? Popular girls, sporty girls, theatre kids, academic nerds, or furries? |
My private school girls wear uniforms to school, so it's mostly athletic clothes outside school. She likes lululemon, fat pants, aviators nation, etc. For cotillion she likes Loveshack Fancy - she only has a few pieces of this because it's expensive. I get her other clothes at Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. Some girls have Golden Goose shoes (also too expensive); my daughter has Air Jordan's, Converse, and Havanas.
As PP said it depends on the school. These brands are one end of a spectrum. |
OP here. Thanks for the response. Does Lululemon have items in tween sizes? DD is pretty small. Are there any items she likes from fat pants and aviators nation? I keep hearing about Golden Goose. Which of their shoes are popular? |
Golden goose are ridiculously trashed out and pretentious. $700 on worn tennis shoes. No. |

My DD started wearing 0 in lululemon in 6th grade, she is very slim and tall. I think their sizes are a bit on the small size. FP and AN - most kids have the sweat pants, the zip sweat shirts with a hood, and some tops. GG - no idea what's the most popular because I refuse to buy them. DD tells me one girl in her class has 10 pairs. I think this is ridiculous! |
DP I don't think so. I can understand the question, but just let DD lead the way. |
Yep, not a troll. DD is leading the way and am helping with items she is indifferent about. |
Most rich people buy knock offs. Do a deep Google search and you'll be able to find GGs for $60. You can even buy fake labels to iron or sew on clothes. The self appointed 13 year old brand police cannot tell the difference unless their parents do the same. |
