I am a Dominion Hills parent and have posted that I think some of you are a bad look. We are also in Arlington and D8. No one at our pool thinks about these teams or cares and we know many of the families and kids at both DR and Overlee. |
I’m the Overlee parent from the 90s and this is my point. Anyone who wastes any time “hating” a successful summer swim team for kids should ask themselves if they might be a little competitive themselves? |
Cool...so you're 25-30 years removed from having any relevant knowledge or valuable commentary... |
What are their kids specifically doing at a B meet that shows lack of good sportsmanship? I have timed against Overlee at a B meet and saw their kids shake hands on either side of the lane at the end of each race. Wait in the lane until everyone is finished. Friendly and polite to the timers when they walk up. Zero smack talking while lining up. (Which I've never heard from any team really.) For an entire meet. The Overlee parents I timed with were friendly. Just a normal B meet. I think it's unfair to come on here and not be specific and offer generalities. I do think their big team (and there are others with big teams) make the meets long. |
I'd bet some at your pool do think about them. Your comment stating "no one" automatically discredits your statement because it's doubtful you have the opinion of everyone at your pool. So how about you pick up your phone and call your Overlee friends and find out why much of NVSL dislikes them? |
Go to one of their A meets and find out for yourself |
So you disagree with a comment and respond by being a dick? Nice. All you’ve done is prove the very point I just made. You’re no less nasty than any of the current Overlee parents you are disparaging. |
So I was responding to a comment specifically about their B meets. |
DCUM attracts a lot of trashy people who take their envy and resentment out on kids. It’s not a good look for them but they are too clueless to realize it. |
You are correct. I have not polled the DH membership. After many years on the team, I have never had a conversation with another parent about these pools and my kids and no kids I'm around mention them. Your suggestion is I should call my friends with this thread in the back of my mind and it will be revealed why I should dislike them. Just repeating it back to you. |
Very fair point, my apologies |
Welp, it is clear you are Overlee alumni as you had to resort to using that type of language. Point proven. Culture apparently began in the 90s I now see... |
What is our secret bat signal at the pool going to be, so I can find you? I am serious! After we find each other, it can be our mutual secret. I wasn't at ASR but after this post, I asked around and no one could think of any questionable shirt. |
I believe then, the shirt in question says Osprey Nation with Osprey being the team mascot. I don't personally find that questionable. |
Ha ha ok. You’re not just a dick. You’re an extremely petty dick. Bro, it’s just a bunch of suburban kids swimming for a few weeks in the summer. That’s all it is. This thread appeared on “recent topics” and as a former Overlee parent I was just curious as to how they keep being the top team. They were top long before we joined and apparently they still are. I didn’t give a f_ck then, and I don’t now. (If you actually read my first post before getting all huffy puffy and defensive, you’d know that.) I’m just curious how they do it. |
