NVSL Division 1 won’t be all Arlington/McLean next summer

No. The far-distant pool has to drive 2-3 times as visitors to McLean or Arlington. It also does not count divisional relays and divisional meets at one of those pools.

Exactly…

Divisional relays are always at Overlee or Chesterbrook and Divisionals at Tuckahoe so OKM will be driving far a minimum of 4 times next summer if not 5

Now, what about those t-shirts? Anyone?

At a quick glance, looks like MAGA merchandise.

They are not nearly as obnoxious as they are at the all star meets of course but still lack the good sportsmanship of our other B meet partners. It’s also difficult for us to host their massive team every other year. There is always talk of us replacing them with someone else but I guess we keep them out of geographical convenience

They don’t. One pool only has 3 B meets and the rest are intersquad. We hosted one them once and said never again because their team is so big and the meet took forever. They approached us another time for a B meet and didn’t even offer to host just assumed we would host them. No thanks.

And, go OKM!

Ha! I'm so surprised to read that swimming is as crazy as travel soccer. I always pictured it a calm thing.

I have club swim and club soccer kids. Club swim IS much calmer than club soccer! Not any less competitive, but far less drama, at least where I am. Summer swim is way crazier. It’s almost like the pettiness is magnified because it’s rec and not as important. There’s no way parents could mount this level of obsession during the course of a whole year.

Ding ding ding! How’s that gonna play in Div 1?

I went and looked up the statement after I saw this. I think you are taking it out of context. I know that individual, and would not classify him as a gung ho swim parent at all. I think it is more stating the problem that the Overlee waitlist is so long- it means that new families to the neighborhood and young families can never get in. That has an adverse impact on the swim team b/c they are not bringing in new younger swimmers, etc.
It amazes me that Overlee has competitive board elections- we have to beg people to join our pool board- there is no competition for slots

That makes a ton of sense. We joined the waitlist in 2017 after buying into the neighborhood. We are still maybe ~5 years away from getting off the waitlist by which time our oldest, who was in utero when we joined the waitlist, will be almost 11.
