Whitman teachers make more because they have more years in the system and more advanced degrees. |
Not really. Whitman has 59.3% of teachers with more than 15 years experience. As compared to: Sherwood 80.5% Damascus 72.1% Poolesville 68.1% Clarksburg 64.6% Wootton 64.6% |
OP is speaking about how 8th graders rank their DCC high school choices. It’s Blair as the top choice, then Einstein, then Wheaton (more people have been interested in it the past few years because of the biomed program), then Northwood, and finally Kennedy. Tbh there’s a big gap between Blair and everyone else. |
They want to work at Whitman. They want to work with the brightest and most motivated. They want to be surrounded by the students (and families) of Whitman. |
Not according to the last teachers survey. |
And the brightest are definitely NOT at Whitman. |
| Honestly, Churchill is not all that. There are some teacher that are beyond terrible. One math teacher misses more classes than than a truant kid. Another teacher is always late because she is getting Chick-fil-A. One of the Chinese teachers is racist and doesn’t believe anyone can speak the language properly except native speakers. |
So basically the power structure is on par with most other professions? |

They are the best -collectively- MCPS high school teachers. |
Because they have the most advantaged kids? |
Based on what metric? It's not percentage with advanced degrees. It's not staff satisfaction. So what metric are you using to state that they are the collective best high school teachers? Vibes? |
