We as in the collective state. You and I might be fine drivers, but you have got to admit that “ Maryland drivers” are really bad. I don’t know what to tell you. Driving around Maryland can be downright scary. Northern Virginia drivers are also really bad. |
You do realize the vast majority of states are no fault. |
+1000. I could tell you stories about Virginia drivers but I have better things to do than type out cr@p like that on a mom’s website. |
I’m Maryland driver and I’ll admit no such thing. “We” are no worse than DC or northern VA. This is just dumb. |
Not a trope. use the right word |
I was stopped at a light. Had he had insurance, my insurance would not have had to pay a penny. Instead it did and ultimately it will cost us all more money. Do you think that no fault is "free" or a gift? |
Mine too! The other day I was cut off and my 8 year old yelled from the back seat “was it a Maryland driver?!” He has heard enough of my grumbles of them.

I have spent a LOT of time living in the Middle East. Everyone knows that Saudi drivers just don't care. It is not like they will ever be arrested. There is no consequence. That is a fact. Why can't it be the same here with MD drivers? While it is not every time I say to myself "must be a Maryland driver" and I am correct, it is most of the time

Maryland driver behind me yesterday, after I pulled over after hearing an ambulance (and seeing it in my rear view mirror): GREAT THANKS, HERE I GOOOOOO!

I live in DC and see more MD plates doing stupid and dangerous things on the street than VA plates. The worst I can say about VA drivers in the city is that they drive super slow and clog up traffic because they don’t seem to know where they are going.
The worst offenders are those with the temporary MD plates—they have zero regard for anyone else on the road and there are no consequences. Yesterday I watched a car speed past me in the city, nearly clip a car ahead of me in the process and then cut another car off. I ended up behind the speeding car at a light and—shocker—it had a temporary MD tag that expired in 2021!! |

This is something only a Maryland driver would do. The MD motto: "I do what I want when I want because I want to."

From Merriam-Webster: Trope - a common or overused theme or device. |
| Unless you are in bethesda, chevy chase, potomac or some parts of rockville, MD is trashy. Most of the US is trashy. |

Two thoughts:
1) Check out Instagram. It is a thing to mount a dash cam and race on the highway. Swerve between cars. Hit/nudge others. Absolutely crazy. It’s like they’re playing a video game in real life. Typically wear a hoodie. 2) A few days ago, I was driving on Georgetown Pike and approaching Great Falls Village. As I drove down the Pike at speed, a black SUV rocketed up behind me. I glimpsed him in my rear view mirror and wondered where he planned on going with such speed. As the SUV approached me, it aggressively slowed, but the driver was looking for an opportunity to pass. We entered the Village area, which has a speed limit of 25mph, and he passed me on the left, passing through the painted median. When we met at the red light, I passed him in the right turn lane, slowed and glared at him. He had Maryland plates and was wearing a hoodie. |
I’ll be honest here: whenever there is a car with MD tags driving slow in the far left lane, 90% of the time it’s a black driver. Not sure why that is, but I notice it almost every time. Crazy speeding & reckless MD drivers come in all colors. But the “slowpoke in the left lane” is usually an older black driver in MD. |
