This must be from before C2.0 since they haven't had Algebra 2 at TPMS in like a decade.

Loiederman and Eastern are magnets, but not Math/Science magnets.

Agree; it looks like this is from before they switched to Curriculum 2.0, so way out of date. It even lists our school, which I know hasn't had Algebra 2 since then. They're so desperate to make their point that they're grasping at straws.

At TPMS, kids who went to an ES that offered AIM get bussed to Blair for Algebra 2 because it isn't offered locally for years now.

Just a note that there isn't just one on-ramp for Algebra in 6th.

There is taking AIM at your local elementary school in 5th (only an option at one school that I've heard of)
There is taking AIM at a middle school (hit-or-miss depending on the elementary/middle school, but not correlated with income)
Skipping AIM entirely with a sufficiently high MAP score or other pre-Algebra experience

Only the first one is correlated with wealth. The other is just....how is the principal feeling that day.

Sounds about right. DC was at the TPMS magnet a couple of years ago, and even at TPMS magnet, only a handful of kids took Algebra 2 at Blair since they switched to curriculum 2.0. There just aren't that many kids in Algebra 2 in 8th these days. Fewer than there are schools on that list.

You don't have school choice except the "magnet" lottery in Silver Spring. Let's be real. You aren't going to move and send your kids to those schools so its not relevant.

The middle school magnet program for math is in Takoma Park, not Silver Spring. Try to keep up.

TPMS is on Piney Branch Rd, the boundary between TP and SS.

Except it’s located very clearly in the Takoma park side and within the city limits of Takoma park.

Hence, Takoma Park Middle School, not Silver Spring Middle School.

That is completely untrue! They have algebra 2 right now at TPMS.

What they won’t do is put kids into algebra 1 in 6th grade based on scores or achievements. They will only do it if they already took AIM in fifth. That small group of kids then ends up taking algebra 2 in 8th. Just like they are doing RIGHT NOW!

Yes, the few that have kids in that situation bus. There really aren't any MS that teach Algebra 2 since they switched to Curriculum 2.0. That spreadsheet is ancient.

Yes, it's completely untrue that they have Algebra 2 at TPMS. Hasn't been offered there in years.
