Is Walkability a code word?

Yeah. I thought I’d be safe picking something in a “quiet cul de sac”. Turns out that’s also code.

OP I have heard DCUM people say they like this “lifestyle” and “lifestyle” has always been the code word for swingers.

I ask as I like to be walkable to the elementary school, playgrounds, Ice cream or a food store or church. With little kids makes is so much easier. Driving to a restaurant for dinner no big thing.

But here couples want to walk go to bars and restaurants to hook up other couples.

Is it why DCUM people need large houses with multiple bedrooms? Are there swinger parties? If so how do I get invited?

Is it because they are alcoholics or drinks who can’t get in a car after going to a bar?

Are they swingers who want to bring other couples back from nearby bars and restaurants close by?

No, it means you don't have to get in a car and drive to get a quart of milk when you run out, or that you have an option to get food via foot rather than having to drive. Ultimately it is the distinction between living in a city or urbanized suburb like Arlington or Bethesda as oppose to somewhere like Urbana or Ashburn.

Walkable means I am walking to get my kids at elementary school right now and that junior high age kids in my neighborhood are not dependent on parents to get to/from school, friends, ice cream, pizza, movies, etc.

If it’s code for anything, it’s code for close to the Metro, i.e. expensive. It’s probably also code for liberal people who would prefer to live in DC or Brooklyn, but don’t want to send their kids to public schools there. It’s for people who fancy themselves environmentally conscious, but still want a single family home. They have a Prius with an NPR sticker and say things like “we do have one car, but we don’t use it much”.

Means your kids can walk to amenities, school, or sports without you or a driver driving them.

Means you yourself can walk to amenities (food, shops, pool, clubhouse, subway) without driving or getting a cab/Uber.

Walkability.

And skipping the joy of finding parking.

Lol wtf.

In my case I'm a Europhile and an annoying cyclist. Oh, and I hate to drive.

But sure...conspiracy theories.

They are people who enjoy outdoors and social factor of a neighborhood community.

I don't drink. I do drive. I dislike drinking and driving. I like walking. I like stopping at small shops and cafes.

No, but it is my safe word

OP, you’re in contention for the crown of top 5 most clueless post. Good luck.

I like walking in the woods in the city away from homes and many people. That is my walkability and I have it.

Interesting new angle for J1 J2 J3 poster here? Or satire? Can't tell.
