Biden will run again

That's true and that is great, and he has great people advising him etc, but still, let's not have an 80 year old leading the country and the world (?).

I can't fathom the world view that sees Trump and Biden as equally divisive and contemptuous. Not liking Biden's policies? Sure. I happen to like most of them, but I can at least understand not liking those policies. But looking at Trump's body of work in the field of contempt and division, then looking at Biden's work in the same field, and concluding, "yup, basically the same?" That's crazy. Trump is a goddamn artist when it comes to contempt and division. A savant. Biden does those things inadvertently if at all.

You clearly did not see the speech in Philly with the red lights and Marines behind him. Trump could only hope to be that divisive.

that said: Trump vs Biden--is this really the best the United States has to offer?

I'd love it if he was younger. But that's not an option in front of us. He's an incumbent who has decided to run. So nobody competent, younger, and sane is going to run against him for the Democrats. Republicans these days are a bunch of shit flinging monkeys; and the likelihood is that they'll nominate the grandmaster shit-flinger again. In any event, nobody who is extreme enough to win a Republican primary will be quiet, competent, and boring. Third parties are a waste of time. So, here we are.

sad truth 70% of the country doesn't want Joe to run again. 60% of the country doesn't want Trump to run again. Yet somehow these two are the front runners

Bit late. It is already in chaos.

Biden isn't a unifier. Then again, neither was Turnip. I view them as equally abhorrent and divisive, both reeking of hatred and contempt for people who didn't vote for them.

Someone different who can reach out across aisles in meaningful ways is what we need. Why can't we elect a new, younger Bill Clinton?

The GOP has made it clear since Obama was elected that they have ZERO interest to work with Dems.

I did see that speech. Which statements did you regard as contemptuous? Here is the transcript:

77% of Americans believe in angels. Democracy might have been a mistake.

He has been a good president, certainly better than the last one, and if Trump wins the GOP nomination, which is likely, then it will basically be a choice betweenFascism and Democracy.

Has anyone told him he is running?

Which is why the GOP wants to cause one via the debt ceiling.

Biden is doing his part. Why is he refusing to even meet with McCarthy?
Some of us think he is not sharp enough to negotiate and his handlers would prefer to keep him hidden.

No. Persistent high inflation is what's leading us to a recession. Political brinkmanship over the debt ceiling would hurt Republicans just as bad as Democrats. There's a lot of political posturing going on right now, but it's in no one's best political interests to let the country default.

And why do we have high inflation?

Because Biden got people back to work and the ensuing economic spark was inflationary. Without Trump's disasterous handling of COVID, there wouldn't have been a need to repair the economy and get people back to work. But like his GOP predecessors, Trump left the country in an economic disaster that the democrats were once again charged with fixing.

Cause => effect.

You cannot just blame Biden for high inflation unless you traceback WHY there was inflation. I guess you prefer 10% unemployment and a cratering GDP instead?

I look forward to voting for him again! Have not had to worry every day what he is about to tweet or whose rights he’s threatened.

Who could do better from the DNC side? You realize it never happens that a credible bid for the white house is launched from the same party, right?
