This isn't Hunter. |
I'll believe that when a PMs child or a royal spawn ends up at Hull |
For these kids, it really doesn't matter where they go to college. They have already made it in life. College is just for fun. |
It's not. It's the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering. |
Looking at the page, it's clearly very racially diverse, with more black students than proportional for the country.
When Ivy's look for diversity, they don't mean students from crummy public schools in the suburbs or inner city Baltimore. They mean wealthy and highly connected blacks from Manhattan and DC. |
SJP's oldest attended Ethical Culture Fieldston. Lots of downtown folks have their kids at Village Community then pivot uptown or to the Hill schools for MS or US. |
How many went to Tufts? |
OK Sorry the link didn't work for me |
I don't really know what you guys mean when you say "this is a magnet school". It's a specialized high school. There are very few zoned high schools in nyc. Everyone applies to HS. Mostly it's luck (lottery), but some have applications with essays, some have tests (the specialized), some are auditions, some are ed-opt which is too hard to explain, many give priority to SWD, ELLs and poorer kids. But even kids with high % of poor kids (probably most HSs), there are some middle class and UMC families. And sometimes rich families. But those kids are not the usual in any class. |
If the Dalton matriculations are this ridiculous, imagine what the acceptances look like. |
Wow. These matriculations are really impressive, especially in a year like this year. |
Not only Dalton. NYC privates schools are just one a whole different level. Then maybe MA, CA, TX, NJ and Il. Then here. Not really comparable.
I think TJ holds it's own vs other top publics, but not the privates. |
Here's an interesting list: https://polarislist.com/ TJ is right up there but you're right about NYC, MA, NJ, CA, CT being the cream of the crop. |
Brearley usually has most HYPSM admits per student in nyc. Then Trinity/Collegiate/Regis/Dalton/HM is race for second. |
