All ivies are not created equal

If I’m hiring? HYPSM.

Caltech and Berkeley after that. Maybe some of the USNWR T10.

USNWR 15 through 30 are good schools but not impressive.

I wish! My kid was rejected from Syracuse despite a 3.9/4.4. Because I am a grown up, I can recognize Syracuse is tippy top for broadcasting even if they hurt me with their rejection.

I’ll add:

Architecture—Syracuse, Cornell, Cooper Union

Stanford used to impress me, especially for STEM. Not anymore. When a school gives out grades like this in almost every course

http://txti.es/stanford-grades-2020/images

and front ends it with holistic admission, diversity etc, you can't tell how good any student with a Stanford degree is anymore. I'm sure this is going on at Harvard and Yale too.

Now it's the flagship publics and a few hard to get into privates like Caltech, MIT,JHU, Princeton, Chicago where students have to really work hard to get A's that impress me.

How about USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Yes my kid goes there.

Is that really impressive??

I know one who did fine arts there!

I know one, too.
A high school art teacher now.
Not impressive.

So, you wouldn’t want your child to have a Yale-educated teacher?

I would but why do you change subject.
We are talking about impressiveness.

Yale major in art -> HS teacher.
Not so impressive

UMD CS or VT aerospace engineering -> NASA or similar
Impressive

NYU Shanghai - 7% acceptance rate and need to be proficient in Chinese at the intermediate level

My kid has an English teacher who went to HYP (not saying which because it's not that common) and this teacher is by far my kids weakest teacher this year. We hired a tutor to basically reteach the subject.
