“Impressive” Colleges

Please no judgement here. What are the colleges that “impress” you? If you hear someone went there, you think to yourself, “wow, that’s an elite school?”

Caltech, eth zurich

That’s about it

Every other school is tainted

MIT asks for all test scores, as does Georgetown. They do not play rankings games. Add those to your list.

For undergrad:
HYPSM
Chicago
Cal Tech
Swarthmore
RISD
Julliard

Also, some schools are major-dependent, e.g., engineering at GaTech (but not other disciplines)

For grad school, it's very field-dependent. Iowa, for example, is extremely competitive for creative writing.

And you wonder why our kids are stressed out and have anxiety issues. Stop with the endless rankings and desire to “be impressive”. Do something productive and worthwhile instead of this mindless stuff. Besides, seriously, who are you trying to impress?

Wheaton College. It is a damn good school

MIT practices affirmative action as does Georgetown

See, at some point adults stop asking other adults where they went to college. I have no idea where any of my neighbors attended college. It’s just not how I evaluate whether a letón is “impressive” or not.

When I hear Emerson College I automatically think they are a talented writer or actor.

Deep Springs. And I actually know one kid who went there.
