Leftover Covid policies that make no sense.

I guess this is a decision by them based on profits but I just wish at least some Walmarts were open all night. Where I live there are three super Walmarts and numerous Walmart Marketplace grocery stores within 20 minutes of me, why can't even one of them be open all night?

For years I had done my grocery shopping late at night to avoid crowds and shop in peace and quiet, and also loved being able to pick up random stuff at any hour, especially great since I'm a night owl.

Oh well, I guess it's not coming back.

Who is willing to work at them for minimum wage? You aren't, so why should someone else so you can shop at 2 AM?

Whatever. They were open 24 hrs a day for many years pre-covid.

Great, well, apply and get a job there. Then they can staff it for 24 hours.

My kid has to wear a mask on the bus and in the theater to see a play as part of the field trip.
Masks not required in school or on the buses the take to go to school meets.
The district sends out home tests before each break to test the kids before returning. they don’t ask for proof of testing though

Basically nothing is because of covid anymore.

If companies are still doing something they started in covid it’s because for whatever they like it better that way now as it turns out.

I’m still getting texts before work conferences asking if I’ve had any symptoms of anything in last 14 days. It feels too much at this point. 14 days is a ridiculous standard and I’m an adult who can make a decision whether it’s appropriate to attend a work event, thank you very much. And if I was the type of person to come to an event sick I prob wouldn’t fess up to the stupid text confirmation anyway.

This. Some were put into place to help or potentially during Covid but companies realized these policies save them money or create more efficiency.

You call it companies saving money, and consumers see it as losing services whiteout paying less. It’s shitty to stay in a hotel without maid service. Restaurants can afford to print new menus every few weeks. I should be able to give a flight attendant a credit card if I want a snack on a five hour flight.

Getting asked for a tip for pretty much anything I pay for.

And their consumers don’t, so here we complain. But we have no power because all they care about is making more money, charging us more and giving us less. It sucks.

They already wanted to get rid of this, but COVID gave them the perfect excuse. Staff and utilities weren’t close to covered by the number of customers that came through overnight (and most stores no longer use overnight stockers, but have them do it with huge pallets in the aisles during open hours (ugh), so it’s not like “well, they’re already open with the lights and AC on anyway, so any customers are just a bonus”).

Who did these jobs pre Covid and what has changed that they no longer want them? It was a low paying job before and today it’s still a low paying job. Did the housekeepers get better paying jobs? Did the servers move to different industries with better wages?

Have you seen the unemployment rate?

Whatever. We aren’t in a pre-COVID labor market.

YES! I refuse to use the QR code. I always request a physical menu.

That’s completely unrelated to covid what are you talking about

Immigration. It’s immigration. I don’t get how no one will say this out loud, but my god. It’s so obvious. Policies tightened under Trump, were not loosened by Obama, and here we are.

I have to fill out quite a few questionnaires as part of my job and they’re always questions about symptoms and - wait for it - international travel in the past 14 days. Just annoying
