Rockville is exploding with new development -- two new HS opening in the next few years; also see a few new developments for biotech firms being built. I see no slow down where I live.

One of those high schools is in North Bethesda, and the other one is in Gaithersburg. But I guess both of them are in the general Rockville area. This looks promising too: https://www.mymcmedia.org/elrich-umd-leaders-announce-new-research-institute-in-north-bethesda/

That’s just the county paying free rent for UMD to locate some jobs at Pike & Rose. If the county and state wanted to do something transformative, they should build a new UMD health sciences campus, including medical school, at White Flint.

There's no good news about Montgomery County that somebody on DCUM won't immediately explain is actually terrible news.

Tell me the good news! Another one bites the dust.

Why on earth would any county executive let jobs like these walk out the door is beyond me. Doug Duncan - do you have a son or daughter?

I already shake my head every time I drive by the Clark sign in Tysons on 495. I wonder how long Lockheed is going to stay.

I'm sure it's great if you are rich in Chevy Chase, Potomac, or Bethesda, or way out in like Damascus it's alright, but otherwise not so great anymore. For more average folk, NOVA is so much nicer and schools are generally safer too.

Where did you go?

Came here to type that verbatim.

Between massive layoffs and wfh, they don’t need the building.

How awful. They already added 8,000 employees making six figures. In the mean time Montgomery County added no new jobs.

No doubt this is ALSO Marc Elrich's fault and ALSO further demonstrates what a disaster Montgomery County is, because everything does, right? Montgomery County couldn't even get Amazon to take their money and run, and it's all the fault of the Hugo Chavez-loving Takoma Park cabal!!!!!!!1!!!1!!!!

Yes it's the fault of MC that Amazon decided to halt construction.

That is correct. There is no net new private sector job creation in Montgomery County.

But plenty of low paying MCPS para jobs…what a disaster. I drive by the former HQ of Celera Genomics on Gude and sure enough it’s yet another MCPS admin building. Viva Erlich! Viva Moco!

It's former Governor Ehrlich's fault that Celera moved to California in 2008 after getting out of the genomics business?

Hell no, would never live in MoCo while working in VA with that terrible commute and 3.2% local income tax. Also I like being able to buy beer at the grocery store. You gotta to be insane to choose MoCo over nova these days

Not hard.

MOCO is a fantastic place we are very lucky to live here and not VA.

Our voters were not fooled by COX that fool and other Republicans. Virginians well they were stupid to vote in Youngkin.

Either way OP you don't like it here stop complaining and move. We don't want people like you here anyway.

Go MOCO

No good jobs, high taxes, ridiculous amount of regulations vs Virginia. During Covid while the rest of the area was letting people remove their masks, MoCo was the ONLY place forcing people to mask up. It was so strange coming to visit old friends and seeing all these virtue signaling moco sheeple with their masks on while everyone around them lives normally. MoCo is a dump thanks to all the psycho progressives who have steadily made it worse and worse
