Northern kids heading south for college

Tuscaloosa and Auburn are blue dots. And the professors are thrilled to have the diversity in the classroom - it’s better for the university in general. My kid is liberal and content at one of these. Would you turn down a free ride to VT because of Youngkin?

My kid is finding her southern school so much less tense. A lot of different points of view. Kids of different races hang out together, no one cares.

Stupid parents with dumb kids

Sure let’s send our kids to the most uneducated places in America

Since this thread has gone off the rails anyway, I’ll ask. What void does trolling fill in one’s life? Are you getting paid for each dumb one liner or are you just THAT desperate for attention? Is it exciting to you? Does it make you happy? I genuinely cannot understand the point at all.

Thanks Pepe the Frog for your input …

The politics cuts both way. There are heading south not just for the tan but to get away from hyper partisan politics, intolerant cancel culture, totalitarian state governments, etc...

The south is filled with totalitarian state governments.

+1 Florida, anyone?

lol “totalitarian” is when an elected leader and the elected legislature do things that the voters elected them to do. Back to grade school civics with you, nitwit.

Do you really think kids that go to colleges that are roughly equally split between conservative and liberal students are happier than kids that go to colleges that have a largely skewed liberal student body?

Both of my kids decided to go to college in the south. They attend Vanderbilt and Tulane. We are full pay and they had plenty of great options in the NE. Some kids just prefer the warm weather and friendly vibe.

DP: When an elected leader is shown to do things that extend beyond what he is legally allowed to do. For instance, firing another elected official that disagrees with him and limiting powers of elected officials in other locales. The courts ruled against him, but it took a year and the changes were already implemented.

University of Georgia leans moderate to liberal.

University of South Carolina is a branch of the University of New Jersey system.

You still have to live with the state laws you got!

What percentage of young women in college do you think will need to seek an abortion? It's not the top concern for all.

+1 z take it to Politics. No one cares here

DP: It will be interesting to see though if the recent laws and issues affect the distribution of applications next fall--the news came too late this year to have as much of an impact.

People don't head off to college thinking they could be assaulted or raped, but it most definitely happens everywhere.

+1. This isn’t a concern for my daughter. Think back to your college days. I remember one girl who I knew who planned to get an abortion but ended up having a miscarriage before she went. She was an acquaintance since she lived on my floor in the dorm. That’s the only person I knew. It’s not a huge priority when picking a college.

Please start a thread on this in politics, not here.

One never knows when one might be raped. I hear that happens on college campuses sometimes. In the south, they'll have the carry the baby to term. It's already happening in Florida.

My college age DCs and their friends all have IUDs. Not overly worried about pregnancy.

I was just talking to my daughter about schools last night. She specifically does not want to apply in the NE even though she’s a good student because she said she doesn’t want all the stress. I’m not saying this is accurate but this is her thinking. She’s going to apply in the South and Midwest, even though she doesn’t like the South.
