Spot on.

Can't believe how much I was manipulated by this extreme gender ideology for years. Kinda angry with myself for letting them walk all over my boundaries, while also marginalizing my own abuse experiences.

YES. If I read about "pregnant people " anymore I will lose it.

Or "vulva owners." NO. MORE.

And we're not alone. Many are on JK's side and ours.

This 100%. Women are women. The fact that this is now a controversial statement is mind boggling.

Amen.

Don’t lump us together. Lots of lesbians (myself included) think JKR is A-OK.

Transwomen deserve respect and dignity. That does not require pretending that their biology and lived experiences are identical to that of natal women.

And 3 natal women have disagreed with me and thought it was JK Rowling who is trying to shut down conversations.

I don't get it.

You were mansplaining women to women?

EXACTLY.
Since when does acknowledging that trans women and cis women are not the same equal hating trans people or denying their human rights?
I support trans men and trans women. That doesn't mean that they're the same as women who were born women.

Particularly when women have been killed, tortured, abused, and raped just for being women for thousands of years. That history can’t be erased.

there's a generational divide in support for JK Rowling...and in sanity.

While Ron, Harry and Hermione threw Rowling under the bus to protect their own positions, she got support from Voldemort, Hagrid and a few other adult actors from the HP films.

Gen Z is not in lockstep with the millennials on this issue. And Ron, Harry, and Hermione are millennials.

It's because women hate to be perceived as a TERF, a Karen, or whatever misogynist stereotype of the day. It's the reason why we laugh at sexist jokes and ridicule other women because we so scared of being the one laughed at.

It’s not just that they hate to be perceived as a TERF. It is that women who are identified as such face violence and threats of violence. The brave women like JKR who speak up for women endure threats and violence against them. The risks for speaking out for women are very high.

So the upcoming 3rd episode discusses the trans activists. Seems like episode 2 is a setup for that one.

Oh please. Hateful how?

She’s a vocal Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. She is vocal against the notion that trans-women are women.

As a domestic violence survivor, JK Rowling is advocating for natal women to have their own spaces for safety's sake, without telling transwomen that they have to give up being transwomen. She actually has sympathy and respect for them, and has said so many times. And Rowling does not deny the existence of trans people. She's saying that in order to protect natal women, especially those who have been through SA and DV, we have to acknowledge distinct needs. She's been proven right, including in the recent Scotland prison ruckus. There are proven cases now of transwomen - or men pretending to be trans - sexually assaulting natal women. And last year trans advocacy resulted in defunding Canada’s oldest rape crisis center. That's not safe.

But she doesn't hate trans people at all. I suggest you listen to the podcast.

Thank you. I've struggled to understand some of the issues. No one will allow a calm discussion of the issues and for some of us having questions causes a hysterical backlash.

Probably a genius. Severely mentally ill. Lives by the motto “there’s no such thing as bad press”. She’s an attention whore.

It makes me sad these people are so ill.

The media loves to exploit them.

Gee, are you OK?

Because speaking for women harms transwomen. It's harmful language.

Is this a joke? I thought there was no irony after Trump ruined it.

I know there's a diversity of view within the LGBTQI community. But the trans movement has taken over the conversation. And we all self censor about the topic. I think the speed with which those changes occurred and a single thought was imposed is mind boggling. It took a long time for gay men to be accepted and respected, but they finally got there - at least in the West. Lesbians are still largely invisible. I think it's a combination of the fact the transwomen have more traction because they are born male and as such their wants and needs end up being heard, and the fact that other movements took advantage of this redefinition of gender to unleash a massive backlash against women, conveniently marginalizing them in this global context where Covid exacerbated gender inequalities, so that they don't have to compete with us women on an equal footing.
