I think people who know they drink too much skip over it so they don't have to face things they're not ready to face. I say this as someone who admitted to drinking more than I'd like. |
None. I’ve never liked the taste of alcohol. I do eat too much sugar, though. |
Too much, nightly wine. I’m a 50 F, working on it.
My opinion: alcohol is an addictive substance. It’s not surprising that so many of us drink too much. |
One night, one bottle just me - every other month |
I drink unevenly. Depending on the company, the quality of the wine, the time of day and my mood.
But never more than two in an evening and often none at all. |
DH and I went from weekend cocktails to nightly cocktails during the pandemic. I decided I did not like the sound of “I have at least 7 drinks a week” and started dry December. Still going strong. A couple of stressful days had me think I’d really enjoy a drink to unwind and coupled that with the thought that sounded like an unhealthy use of alcohol. I will reintroduce at some point but don’t want to go about 2x a week in the future. |
Honest answer: I drink far more than I should. At least 2 glasses of wine per night. Sometimes more and sometimes up to a full bottle in a night (on a weekend night). I enjoy it even though I know I need to cut back. I think I've had fewer than ten days without one drink since March 2020. |
I try to limit it to two glasses of wine per week- usually on the weekend.
I drank way too much during covid (two drinks almost daily). |
2-3 drinks/day, about 3 days/week with the other days zero. |
2-3 drinks per week on average. 51F. I don’t think it’s necessarily too much but most of the time I drink alone which makes me question my relationship with alcohol. |
2-3 glasses per night, almost every night. Sometimes I stop at 1-2, or even skip it entirely, but that is becoming less and less common. Sometimes it's more like 4, but that leaves me not sleeping well and with a headache in the morning, so I try to avoid that. I go through a bottle of wine about every 2 days. Which sounds like a hell of a lot when I say it like that...... |
1 glass of wine about every 2 or 3 months when we go out for dinner |
Seriously, how do you get up in the morning and function? |
I have been drinking more over then last year. I have gotten into the habit of having a drink or two when I get home from work, something never did before. I am probably drinking 10-12 drinks a week. It isn’t interfering with my life but it isn’t healthy and it’s unneccesary and calories I do not need. I have never had a problem with alcohol but I don’t want to start now. I was recently to do a dry month or two. Give my liver a break. |
I don’t drink. I’ve never liked the taste or the feeling that I get from alcohol. I don’t even like desserts with alcohol. So maybe a sip or two a year of a Bellini or of champagne for a toast or something like that.
I’m fine with it. It’s been strange at times being around people who seem to need to drink in order to be social, or who assume that my desire not to drink implies something about them (it doesn’t). It’s also strange when people seem to feel that my not drinking warrants an explanation (it doesn’t). And sometimes there are funny moments— like the time I ordered iced tea, took a large swallow, and learned what Long Island Iced Tea is. Yuck. |
