How much do you drink - be honest

I cook with alcohol more than I drink it. I'd guess I have 2-3 drinks per year and that's about it. I'm not a big drinker.

I had a glass of wine last week. One beer on Saturday. Prior to that I hadn't had anything since New Years eve. And no, I wasn't trying for a dry January.

Sometimes it's more like 4, but that leaves me not sleeping well and with a headache in the morning, so I try to avoid that. I go through a bottle of wine about every 2 days. Which sounds like a hell of a lot when I say it like that......

Not to alarm you, but this was my habit for a long time until it turned into a full blown addiction and a real mess. It got easier and easier to justify "one more glass." After a lot of struggle over several years I finally quit in September.

It's only been 4 months for me, but life changing. Yes.

I don't drink any alcohol. I haven't had any since before we had kids way back early 2000s.

The average american drinks 2.3 gallons of pure alcohol a year. That is the equivalent of 77 bottles of 15% wine or 490 5% beers. So a lot of people drink a lot.

I was probably in the 2-3 per night 4 nights a week camp last year. I stopped drinking for 2 months, and some nights I slept a little better and felt better, but it wasn't transformative. I'm easing back in to a little bit more drinking, but still probably won't hit the same pace as before

Give or take a day or 2.

I feel fine, I’m 50

I did dry January. Nothing really changed.

One or two times a year I’ll drink more like brunch with a Bloody Mary and a beer then also drink at dinner time.

I also did dry January and didn't notice one bit of difference. I usually drink wine every single night.

A glass of wine Friday nights and another glass Saturday nights.

It really depends on how you calculate average. Actually, I think that the people responding drink slightly more than the average. Only a couple of people noted that they don't drink at all, yet most data shows that ~ 30% of Americans don't drink any alcohol. The majority of Americans do drink, but most don't drink heavily. Overall, alcohol consumption is thought to follow the 80/20 rule where 20% of people are drinking 80% of alcohol.

Zero ounces. Have you read scientific studies lately. As much as alcohol lobby and closet alcoholics try to bury the reality, its still there.

Alcohol and gun industries are very powerful. I think health insurance industry is the only giant who can eventually take them down and for first time, consumers will benefit from this kind of.

0 I never drink, I've literally never had a legal drink and I'm middle age now.

Have cut way back. Used to be multiple drinks on weekend nights (including Sunday), and then a couple of glasses of wine or beers each weeknight. Now its none on Monday-Thursday and a couple on weekend days -- probably 8 total per week.

This isn’t a population representative of the US at large, it’s a health board. The people on a health board are obviously going to be more thoughtful about their health.
