I cook with alcohol more than I drink it. I'd guess I have 2-3 drinks per year and that's about it. I'm not a big drinker. |
I had a glass of wine last week. One beer on Saturday. Prior to that I hadn't had anything since New Years eve. And no, I wasn't trying for a dry January.
|
Not to alarm you, but this was my habit for a long time until it turned into a full blown addiction and a real mess. It got easier and easier to justify "one more glass." After a lot of struggle over several years I finally quit in September. |
It's only been 4 months for me, but life changing. Yes. |
I don't drink any alcohol. I haven't had any since before we had kids way back early 2000s. |
The average american drinks 2.3 gallons of pure alcohol a year. That is the equivalent of 77 bottles of 15% wine or 490 5% beers. So a lot of people drink a lot.
I was probably in the 2-3 per night 4 nights a week camp last year. I stopped drinking for 2 months, and some nights I slept a little better and felt better, but it wasn't transformative. I'm easing back in to a little bit more drinking, but still probably won't hit the same pace as before |
I also did dry January and didn't notice one bit of difference. I usually drink wine every single night. |
A glass of wine Friday nights and another glass Saturday nights. |
It really depends on how you calculate average. Actually, I think that the people responding drink slightly more than the average. Only a couple of people noted that they don't drink at all, yet most data shows that ~ 30% of Americans don't drink any alcohol. The majority of Americans do drink, but most don't drink heavily. Overall, alcohol consumption is thought to follow the 80/20 rule where 20% of people are drinking 80% of alcohol. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/09/25/think-you-drink-a-lot-this-chart-will-tell-you/ https://news.gallup.com/poll/467507/percentage-americans-drink-alcohol.aspx |
Zero ounces. Have you read scientific studies lately. As much as alcohol lobby and closet alcoholics try to bury the reality, its still there. |
Alcohol and gun industries are very powerful. I think health insurance industry is the only giant who can eventually take them down and for first time, consumers will benefit from this kind of. |
*this kind of war. |
0 I never drink, I've literally never had a legal drink and I'm middle age now. |
Have cut way back. Used to be multiple drinks on weekend nights (including Sunday), and then a couple of glasses of wine or beers each weeknight. Now its none on Monday-Thursday and a couple on weekend days -- probably 8 total per week. |
This isn’t a population representative of the US at large, it’s a health board. The people on a health board are obviously going to be more thoughtful about their health. |
