There is an early showing on 4/19 before it officially opens on 4/28. Bought tickets the other day for me and my 21 year old dd. Glad she goes to college nearby, lol.

I am 60 and feel like a girl needs to be about 8 or 9 for it to have the same thrill we experienced at 11 or 12.

Bringing my 9 1/2 year old daughter!

My 15 yo can't wait to see it with me. She loved the book as much as I did.

Judy Blume is doing a special screening of the film with a discussion afterwards in NYC later this month! So excited to attend!

I was disappointed to see it’s PG-13. Will it be appropriate for a 9 year old?

yes. I am taking my 10yo. She got her period and had breasts already, plus we read the book.

I was in 4th grade when it was published and at my school (LA burb) one of the popular girls was lending it out. I was supposed to feel like I had made it to the inner circle because she lent it to me. Instead, I thought it was a snooze, which helped me realize that the popular girls weren't as interesting as my nerdy friends. I definitely want to see the movie and luxuriate in the '70s vibe. Will now text my childhood pal who lives here to make a date to see it! (And maybe she can help me remember which of the popular girls was the one who had the book -- she was one of two tall blondes, but I can't remember which one.

I just read a review that said the movie shows the girls finding Playboy in Dad’s room, has the girls talking about sexual urges, and has some kissing in a closet scene. It feels a little too mature for my 9 year old. We will pass.

I will be taking my 10 & 13 yo daughters who have both read the book. Might take my 8yo son too who is growing up with older sisters and should have a solid understanding of what growing up is like for girls. I might actually take the girls first to gauge how it would be for him. I also think my husband, who is a fantastic dad but who struggles a bit with parenting tween and teen girls, should see it.

Wow! That’s exciting! I’m the pp who is seeing the movie next week. I saw her speak about 7-8 years ago. The audience was filled with 30-50 year old women who grew up with her. I think every person was thrilled to be there - my group definitely was! Have fun!

Indeed. She looks better in the previews than she has looked in ages.

Thank you!!! I was able to go to a book signing with her about 8 years ago as well. She was wonderful to meet in person and so many fond memories of reading her books! I hope you enjoy the film!!

I’m the DH and I read “hello god it’s me Margaret” in elementary school and it really was eye opening. Especially because I thought it was part of the “Oh God You Devil” franchise.
