Saw it yesterday with my 10 year old and two of her friends. They thought it was very entertaining but got a bit long winded in serious at the end over religion. All the girls are well aware of periods, bodies etc. more and more girls are starting periods in 4th and 5th grade now. Parents need to be truly educating their daughters on this stuff.

And to the poster who said her 7th grader isn’t aware of oral sex or blow jobs, you are wrong. I know for a fact that kids were talking about this in fourth grade on the playground at a school in Ward 3. It’s everywhere!

No, these days 'everyone' is talking about sexting and oral sex. Spin the bottle seems pretty tame by comparison.

Not in 4th grade. My 7th grader just learned what oral sex was actually. My 4th grader has no clue. And neither of them know what sexting is. My kids don’t have phones or social media.

Adorbs. My 4th grader, a few years back, had a boy ask her about "blow jobs" and simulated it to her with a frozen yogurt stick (Gogurt).

It's kind of adorable that you think 4th grade is too early.

I’m really sorry your child experienced that. I hope you reported it to the school. Thankfully that hasn’t happened with my child. That wouldn’t be a reason I would take my child to this movie though.

I took my two daughters to the movie and it was really good. None of us have read the book but the movie was really well done and the experiences were very relatable.

I loved the book, and the movie. My 10 year old daughter and her friends loved the movie, too, although only a couple had read the book.

I'm guessing that there are some conservative Christians who don't like the way that their beliefs are portrayed--meaning, they don't like be confronted with accusations of anti-semitism if they believe that marrying a Jew is a sin.

Now you can’t possibly know that at all. Here’s how I know. In sex ed this year, it was mentioned that diseases can be spread by “oral sex.” The teacher however was not allowed to answer the question as to what “oral sex” is. My 7th grader came home and asked me what it was. It was clear they didn’t know.

Sheltered kids, LMAO. Every day I thank the lords I was raised by public health experts. I knew what was appropriate and what was not, as well as what to avoid, as long as I can remember.

Yes I like my kids to remain kids as long as possible. No reason to rush to grow up. The porn will be there for when they are older.

I don’t know what this means. Were you in an orphanage or the “system” ie foster care? I feel bad that your kids aren’t sheltered. I love that my kids are pure innocent kids. Childhood is special and fleeting and we should try to make it last as long as possible. They have their whole lives to be adults and be exposed to things.
