If you are referring to Chancellor's Scholarship, that's not correct. Certainly no more than 10. |
| DD just got a letter inviting her to apply for a full scholarship at Washington College |
You are more correct than I was, they interview no more than 50, they select about 15 according to a Pitt’ web site. |
Yeah, my boy interviewed for it and didn't get it a few years back. They say 15 but it's always fewer than that. |
| DS was selected for interview for full scholarship and stipend at UC Boulder but was not selected. Ended up with only $8k per year. |
Which full ride scholarship pp? Are you from a Chicago city public high school? Hard to see which one of these would provide a DC student with [an unexpected] full ride? https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/financial-support/scholarships Police and Fire Scholarship: To honor our nation’s safety public safety officers, the children of professional, active-duty or killed on duty municipal, county, and state police and firefighters are eligible for up to full-tuition, four-year scholarships. Chicago Public Schools Students: Select outstanding graduates of Chicago Public Schools will be awarded up to full-tuition four-year scholarships. Chicago Public Schools Educators: In honor of their service to the community and city, select outstanding students of active CPS full-time teachers and school-based non-leadership staff will be awarded up to full-tuition, four-year scholarships. |
that pp was bs-ing |
In the very recent past, they posted a class breakdown and it specifically noted that 7% of that class was Jefferson Scholars. I think it is 10% max but on average ends up being around 7% because not all awardees enroll at W&L. |
Jefferson is UVA. The Johnson at W&L offers over 10% to the finalists based on a yield rate aiming for 10% when it all shakes out. My child was a finalist. They continue to offer to their alternates after May 1 acceptance decisions are due until 10% is reached if their yield prediction is off and fewer accept. Some years several of the alternates end up getting offers, other years none do. My child was an alternate, this was explained clearly to us. DC ended up removing their name from the alternate list and going elsewhere. |
| ^ I meant Johnson, not Jefferson. I am very familiar with both. |
He probably called it "UC Boulder" in his interview. |
DD knows a boy who graduated from TJ last year and received a full ride to UChicago. |
Currently there are over a thousand national merit semifinalists enrolled atAlabama. https://thebamabuzz.com/university-of-alabama-sets-fall-enrollment-and-national-merit-scholars-record/. Clearly some high stats students are happy there. |

Duke, UofC, Vanderbilt, USC, uc berkeley, ucla, Notre dame, uva, unc are the near elite schools with full scholarship.
Not large number given and most of the kids are cross admits with HYP and, Stanford MIT. I was a USC trustee recipient and chose it over Harvard and Yale. |
Unless you know which one, I’d say your dd misunderstood. |
