No, the worker didn't respond with kindness. Most of us don't get that kind of response from restaurant employees because we treat them with kindness and respect and show our appreciation by tipping them for their service. You have an opportunity to do better in the coming new year!😊👍

I’m sorry that you are stuck working menial jobs, but your entitlement for tips when you make a decent wage is absurd. If you think you are underpaid, take it up with your employer. Tipping is for people who provide a service and are paid a reduced wage in anticipation of tips. That isn’t a chef, hostess or manager at a restaurant. And we don’t have a relationship of any kind when I pick up my food. I make no apologies for this — you can stomp your feed and call me names all you want. You are just wrong and look ridiculous.

I am a generous tipper where it is appropriate.

Tipping has nothing to do with being kind or being a jerk. You are paying for the quality of service. In this instance there was no service.

Glad to know it's not required. I especially hate the coffee shop flip around. I usually tip in those circumstances, but ugh.
