These are lovely seasonal songs. It’s a shame that so many want to ruin the season’s festivities. Let’s just make everyone miserable, yeah? Just awful |

SO MUCH DRAMA over so much NOTHING!
So, they needed to reschedule it... big deal! |
| Maybe somebody has norovirus. Some school had that and it spreads so fast. That would absolutely be a good reason to postpone. |
All of your above assumptions and put downs are nothing more then the raving machinations of a mean mom schoolyard bully with issues. Or maybe you are just a silly little troll trying your best to make a there there. Or maybe you are both. Either way you are a mean bully person in obvs need of a non cyber hobby your very own real life adult friends. |
Sigh. I’ll type slowly for you. Yes, dear, we know the concert was cancelled (you really thought you did something by C&P-ing that email, didn’t you?)
The “my child said” and “fake news” is the REASON for the cancellation. Run along now. |
When you cancel so last minute you need to say why. Omit WHO is sick if someone is sick but jeez it is nuts to just cancel without any explanation |
faithful Muslims do not celebrate Christmas. Saying you are Muslim doesn’t make you a Muslim. |
I wrote the above and I am sure you are right. But that is also kind of my point. We should call it Santa Day keep the tree and the lights and presents and not have faith involved at all. It would establish a common holiday in the US that is built around our "greatest" resource: capitalism. Faith has little to do with the way American's celebrate Christmas at this point. Look around you at the inflatables, the lights, the sales and see what we are really valuing. I am saying it is time to move away from the Christians who took over a pagan holiday and claim the fact that this celebration is about providing lights, gifts and money around the darkest time of year. There has been a separation for years. It is time for the divorce. Santa Day is about snow (we rarely see) gift giving and decor. I realize it will take a long time to get people to this point, but the ball is already rolling in that direction... |
Agree and faithful Christians know that the Christmas season is a time to recognize and celebrate the birth of our savior. Fine if you want to have a secular winter celebration, but many of us believe that Jesus is the reason for the season. We have the right to acknowledge our faith during CHRISTmas. I hope the children get to do thier performance soon without drama. |
Fwiw- I have a kid in private. His school postponed the winter concert last minute. I haven’t heard a word from parents demanding answers. I also have a kid at an fcps elementary, but she’s too young for band— maybe I don’t know what I’m missing |
| I can’t believe no one knows why. The moms at our school would be all over this. |
| This is amusing. I have a fifth grader at flint hill. None of this is true. There was never an evening performance scheduled. The kids did a wonderful job with a very diverse winter concert. I was in attendance. |
It seems like the cancelled, got a lot of blow back and then back peddled into a postponement |
Really? What about Tuesday, December 13th: Chorus Concert for families at 6:30PM in the gym? You can find this in the Falcon Flyer from December 8th, 2022. I got 3 emails at 4 pm letting me know that it's postponed (canceled): from the school administration, the teacher, and the string teacher. Did they organize it just for you and your fifth grader? |
I'm chuckling over the Christian complaining about her right to celebrate and acknowledge Christmas, which is now basically celebrated openly from Halloween to Dec. 25. God, you're insufferably ignorant. YOu have the right to do whatever you want regarding Christmas. You don't have the right to impose it on others. You do not have the right to require that your religion or religious beliefs get celebrated in a non-parochial school. If you want all the Jesus-y things, go to Catholic school, sweetie. |
