| About an hour before we were going to leave for the evening performance the school admin sent out an email saying that it had been cancelled… but they had performed it during school hours for the school. I thought at first something happened at the school or there was an emergency with one of the teachers. But my DC came home today and said that parents complained that it was too ‘christmassy’ and not diverse. Wondering if anyone heard anything? Or if this is just the uninformed scuttlebut of fifth graders… |

| This is awful. Did they allow parents to come to the student performance? I hate that a few ruin it for the bunch. |

| Parents were allowed to go to the first one but I couldn’t make it because of work, which I bet is why they had two performances. I’m just sad that i didn’t get to see it. If they wanted to make it more diverse I’m all for that. Just wish it wasn’t cancelled last minute! |

| Why don’t you email the school and ask if that is the actual reason before you go spreading rumors. You don’t know if that’s the truth. |

You’re right, I have no idea. Everything I’ve heard I heard from my DC who is only a kid. But the school has been zip. |

I’m just guessing but it sounds like there was an emergency of some sort. Sickness, accident, building issue… That’s more likely than it being cancelled for song choice at the last minute. Give them time, you will get more information. They had to notify everyone quickly and get something out if it was tonight. My children have come home with quite a few stories about staff or school events they absolutely believed were true that were not. |

| I’d write to administration and ask for an explanation. Kids were excited to perform for their families and if the “rumor” is true then that is awful! How far are we going to take every freaking thing??? |

I heard the same thing (but it came by way of a friend of a friend of a friend...) The teacher didn't give any explanation. Has anyone heard back from the administration? |

| My kid had a choir performance yesterday at a MS level. Both secular and Christmas songs. No issues. I don’t think one parent can stop a performance bc there’s Christmas music. |

| Question for OP- was your child singing only Christmas songs? Curious if rumor true what was found too Christmas. Our school had performance but no mention of Christmas- songs included couple for Hanukkah, 1 for Festival of Lights, 1 for world peace and 2 for winter- no songs mentioned Santa or Jesus/Mary. |

Not OP, but a Hanukkah song was missing. The rumor is that that was the reason for the cancellation. |
