| Any choral or music teacher that makes a winter concert and forgets secular and Hanukkah songs should be fired. This bridge was crossed in the 80s around here and so this was either someone trying to make a point or extreme stupidity and both should be punished. |
| Ok, I just asked my kid, these are songs: Mr. Grinch, Holiday, Frosty, Winter Fantasy, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh ride, My favorite things, and scenes from Home alone, Mr. Grinch, Frosty, Miracle on 34th street... |
Rent Seasons of Love is a religious song??? |
All non Christian, very secular winter songs that have zero to do with Christ's birth. |
| How unfair to the children and all the working parents. |
Surely they didn't cancel based on this? I'm hoping for a Covid diagnosis or something that caused it. Kids really love those concerts and prepare so much. |
Yup. And person spreading Right Wing scare propaganda to the dumb by claiming “my child said.” |
Who has a problem with these songs? This is a public school. Why do they need to add any religious song? |
"my child said"? "fake news"? Dear Flint Hill Families, We apologize for the extremely short notice, but we regrettably must postpone our Winter Concert for this evening. We will send an update once we have solidified plans to reschedule in the New Year. The students should be very proud of their hard work, and we look forward to seeing them perform again soon. Sincerely, Flint Hill Administration |
| So, they didn’t cancel it, they postponed it. Sounds like a Covid diagnosis or some other illness-related problem. They should have given a reason, but if it was an illness in the director or some other identifiable person, they may have been worried about giving too much information and it being a HIPA violation. |
Postponed is not a synonym for canceled. |
|
Yes, we got this one as well. The crazy thing is that we got it around 4:30 and the kids were supposed to be at school at 5:45. There were 4 teachers preparing the performance.
So, all 4 got Covid at 4 pm and the next morning all 4 were healthy enough to be in school? BTW, strings have their performance tomorrow morning. I don't know about the others. |
| Making a mountain out of a molehill. |
Calm down. It needed to be postponed and it was only an elementary chorus concert. My kid had one today at a different school that was post because of the delayed opening. Life happens. We knew the reason but we didn’t go and demand why they couldn’t fit it in with the two hour delay. You know know why and can’t complain if no one actually asked. |
| *you don’t know why yours was cancelled |
