Duh.... Battlefield Girls signed up for the Gold division this year!! They put their Big girl pants on for St. James League... |
|
I think the parents care more about the STJ scores and schedules than the players. Most players don’t even want to go to the games every week, but they have to because the parents signed them up, plus they feel peer pressure from the HS program to show up. In the grand scheme of things, STJ means absolutely nothing.
As for a Bfield glax going to states again, good for them. They probably will be blown out again by a Fairfax team like they were last year. Whether they faced Yorktown or Langley, results would have been the same. Take any of the well know teams like Madison, oakton, Robinson or Woodson, even west springfield last year and they all would have beat battlefield. Just my opinion |
| What is funny is the amount of time the lax directors are spending defending the fact that scores should not matter in a league they are running where they post scores on tourney machine that are recorded by a bunch of teenagers watching their phones. Just run the programs correctly it is not that difficult. |
They did lose solidly their first game. However, To be fair, Battlefield is a pretty good team and probably one of the 8-10 best class 6 teams in the state. The problem is the other 8-9 teams all have to play each other to get to the state finals and Battlefield did not fair well (0-3) when playing the other group last year as the pp mentioned. |
Don't know if you realize that the time/score keepers use their phones stopwatch to keep overall game time as well as yellow card time. |
Yes, the big clocks on the table are just for decoration…
|
|
WOW talk about being lost!. The table workers use their phones to keep the yellows because the clocks keep running and in a time out the 2 min pauses. A team can't use the timeout to eat away at a yellow penalty. Always fun to see this board bring out the dumbest adults to criticizes young men and women working. Sorry your DD team lost, it is not the score keepers fault. If the score is wrong in tourney it is the coaches fault they have to sign for it. Maybe those goals that you thought were goals got called back, or maybe you don't know anything about lacrosse and should just stay home with your DD. The world doesn't need you complainers in 2023 so do the world a favor and stay home where you belong. |
Sounds like you may be affiliated with TSJ. This really isn’t hard. If you promote keeping score of games it’s not too much for those who have paid $3K per team to expect scorekeepers to pay attention. Teams paid for this service that TSJ promoted. If you want to avoid criticism then stop keeping score and set this expectation with the teams. And adjust the price per player accordingly. Or simply ask the scorekeepers to do the job they are being paid to do. Jumping on this forum to knock those who bring up a valid point isn’t helping. My guess is we see a lot more attentive scorekeepers in the New Year. |
| Please, please get workers who can keep score in the new year. Parents don’t care, honestly, but the kids do when they are playing their hearts out. Some of the kids keeping score didn’t even look like they were old enough to work and were definitely not engaged in the game. We pay too much to have these kids running the show. |
This must be the same person posting over and over as I doubt there is more than one person who cares. But please let it go. Is this just an issue with the girls' games and not the boy's? |
| Nope. First time poster. No idea what is happening on the boys side, but girls are a mess and pretty much everyone was talking about it before the holidays. |

OMG, such complainers here. Let's be real, it's an out of season HS sport that doesn't mean much to anyone besides the select few that maybe hardcore, and certain dads or moms coaching the teams. This league was meant to keep a stick in a players hand and give them a way to continue bonding with their HS team mates or club team mates and improve their skills as an individual and team. When STJ indoor league is over in the next month or two, does it really matter? short answer is NO. Kids will continue to be kids and the parents will continue to discuss all the negatives about the league and how they would do things differently and my favorite, who beat who. News flash- no one cares, its an out of season HS sport.
When HS sports is all over for your child, look back at this and ask yourself; was it worth getting all stressed out about everything? Was it worth analyzing every little move, other players, teams, coaches, etc.. Was it worth the anxiety that players and parents felt from HS programs peer pressure to participate in every little event? Was it worth the anxiety over not being able to run 2 miles in a certain amount of time during tryouts? Was it worth the anxiety and stress about missing a practice? The short answer is NO. |
| I also heard the scorekeeping was a major issue in week one. Agree with others. The fix is simple. If the TSJ is going to keep scores have those hired to do so focus on keeping accurate scores. If this is an issue maybe ask parents to volunteer to keep scores. Or simply stop keeping scores and communicate this to teams. None of these are hard to implement. |
