Harry + Meghan series really well done

They had a photographer with them to film them for this documentary so it is them but not candid - they know they are in front of a camera lens and therefore what they do and say is under the context of knowingly being filmed for a documentary about themselves.

I don't get how they allege quitting RF for privacy from the public, presumably from being photo'd, filmed, and in the news. But then they do an entire series of themselves to all the public, in photos and film and its all over the news, their supposed candid life. On camera. It's like their career now.

Maybe b/c they want to highlight the insanity of the Royal Family?
Maybe because they want to point out the horrors of Colonialism?
Perhaps they want to use their platform to fight against the blatant racism in England?
Or, could it be that they see an opportunity to call to task the despicable behavior of the British press that killed Harry’s Mum?

Take your pick!

There is a video from them in 2017 talking about how they met and they tell a different version of how they met than what they tell in this one. Both videos are them telling their own story but they changed the details so who knows if they were telling the truth in 2017 or now.

Back then they always just said “through mutual friends.” I don’t recall real details and then all the press and books talk about it being a set up at soho house or whatever that club is called. But the two of them say today they arranged the meet themselves after being connected by friends, with Harry making the first move. Very different than social climbing Meghan

They said Meg’s yoga friend set them up.

or as simple as they want to make money on their terms versus be on a controlled allowance from a family they don't want to be close to?

X1000. It’s even worse when every aspect of your life was chosen to bring you into the spotlight, a career in acting, very visible charity work, marrying one if the most recognizable men on earth… Megan may a be victim of prejudice but so too are every other black person and minority out there. Why should I feel badly for her? Maybe if she and Harry shied away from the spotlight, lived quiet private lives but still were hounded I’d have some compassion but that’s simply not the case. They are not victims here.

Because they want to control the narrative of their own lives. Sure, she can come across as overly precious, but these three episodes made them far more likable to me. Staying in that RF life would have felt like a grueling uphill battle every damn day.

You do realize they wanted this series to make them look a certain way. The RF could also release a series that made them all look very likeable. This series is more PR.

“Overly precious”. — you nailed it, PP. I’ve been trying to put my finger on what it is about her, and that’s a perfect description!

I find this line of argument so tiring. There is a difference between “I don’t want to be used as part of palace PR, I want to control my own media presence, I want to have freedom to go/say/do what I want when I want” and “I wish I were left alone forever and have privacy.”

No doubt. It's glossy and effective PR. I just can't help but wonder if M was being continually set up to fail alongside the ever perfect Kate. I'm surprised that I'm even saying this because I'm not a true fan.

I thought the PP who called it big Anne Hathaway energy was spot on too. That one made me chuckle.
