| I would do 8 to have a variety - 5 reds and 3 whites. But I would expect to have several bottles unopened. I'd also get a pack of High Noons. |
Each? That does not match my experience at all. I’ve been a big wine drinker since college and I don’t ever drink more than a glass when I’m out these days. My friends are the same. Formerly big drinkers, now just a glass or no alcohol at all. It’s just not worth the wrecked sleep or the horrible day after at this age. |
+1. My friends don’t drink like that. We maybe have a glass or two, or one wine and one cocktail. There might be one or two days a year I’ll have 3, and that’s usually when we’re being stupid at the casino and Uber is involved. |
| Wow- some of you must be alcoholics. What woman would drink more than 2 glasses of wine in one night? |
That’s roughly 2-1/2 bottles presuming you get 5 pours per bottle. But let’s say three want red, that means opening two bottles. Two want white, that’s one bottle. And one wants bubbly. That’s a 4th bottle. But if all 6 want red, you’re opening three bottles of red. As a result, your 2-3 bottles each of white and bubbly go unopened. The unopened alcohol won’t go bad. Personally I’d have 2-3 bottles of each type, and plan that it won’t all get consumed. |
Seriously. That’s like an inch of wine per person.
|
| You should have 8, even though you may only use 4-6. The point is to have variety plus a couple spares to accommodate any particular tastes. |
| I hope OP comes back and tells us how many bottles they actually drank. |
| 4 is plenty, I find my guests often bring wine. I’d have 4 and assume we’d open 3. |
| How is this even a question? Buy a bunch and save the rest for later. Or if you’re not a drinker send the wine home with your friends. But to answer a question, I think six bottles is a good start. 3 red, 2 white, one rose. |
A FUN ONE...assuming this isn't a nightly ritual and just a special occasion. Live a little! |
This woman would. Right here. Hi. |
[She slurs into the mirror] |
Hi. I will sit by you. I'll have the bottle over the course of the evening. White. |
I don’t judge either of you, really. I just physically can’t do that anymore. |
