Very disturbing incident on metro bus

Terrible take.

You are saying it's fine for teens to scream obscenities on the bus, and basically make it an awful experience for other riders.

So an older person, like this woman, who is clearly religious and moral, should just endure this b/c she is too poor to Uber or drive, while wealthier people stop riding public transit so they don't have to engage with kids like this at all.

I can guarantee this behavior would not be tolerated in UMC white spaces. But it's OK in poorer, majority AA spaces? Poorer people have to have a lower quality of life out of fear of violence and harm? That's very messed up.

When crimes become normalized This is what leads to gated communities or people leaving the city. I have been here for over 30 years now I am just waiting on my kids to finish HS. Crimes should not be normalized and it should not be an expectation that we live in a city we should accept crime.

Didn't realize people taking the metro bus aren't aware that you don't approach or talk to anyone, particularly juveniles.

This is what school buses are for - transporting feral children. DC needs to get some yellow buses.

When I read in the article that this was "unacceptable"..my first thought was.. "OK, so what are you going to do about it?" Nothing. Those people will get a slap on the wrist and go on to probably commit more violence.

Just smoke up the public's a$$es.

So it’s her own fault?

That doesn’t warrant getting gang assaulted and nearly shoved off a Bus.

Unfortunately some people still think that all juveniles mind the adults and will listen. Um no. Some kids don't GAF about anyone or anything else but their own.

This. All the posters on here saying this is ‘no big deal’ or that the woman shouldn’t have called out the kids for cursing are nuts.

Maybe they need more midnight basketball. Or midday basketball. Or all day basketball

Wow. I am crying my eyes out after watching this video. This woman is just asking kids to be respectful. How most people grow up, you do not speak foul language at all let alone in public spaces. This is no different than those men in India raping a woman for going to the movie on public transportation. You realize this is the way most people get around DC right? She doesn't really have a choice. I can't believe no one intervened. I would have called 911 and then stopped them. I realize they might have weapons but I could not be a bystander.

The attackers appear to be students - shouldn't be that hard to figure out from which school depending on when they got on the bus. And that MTV shirt is definitely recognizable.

They need to be tracked down, asap. Groups that would do this to a random lady on a bus who asks them to behave in a civil way on a public bus are not going to fix themselves.

Only an idiot would intervene. This is the city people want. Let them have it.

Identify them for what? Nothing will happen. No consequence will be issued.

Interview with the victim.

Seems like a cool lady.

Cancer and AIDS combined would be too lenient not only for the criminals who beat her but also those calling her a Karen.

Thanks for posting. I can only hope that MPD and WMATA are investigating - the behavior of the driver is inexplicable and the kids need to be prosecuted.
