I understand that now that Riemer is out of public office, he is going to start sending his kids to private school. He spends 12 years on the Council destroying schools and then takes his kids out of MCPS as soon as he can. |
Really? Ugh. I was hoping he'd better understand what the high schools are like. I think his oldest is now in 9th grade. |

I voted Sully (and Moore for governor). Sully does have a chance. Elrich won the D primary by a razor-thin margin of 33 votes. 1/3 of votes in MoCo are unaffiliated and had not vote in that race. If they go to Sully, and the Blair voters + some Riemer voters go to Sully, then Sully wins.
Now.. that's a lot of assumptions.. but Sully does have a chance. It's a lot better than the last election where it was Elrich, then a crazy R (Ficker), and a (D) who threw in her hat as an independent (Floreen). This time it's a D who you either love or hate, and a moderate R. |
What? NO THE LIARS AND CRIMINALS ARE REPUBLCIANS There is not one repuke worth voting for in the US full stop. What exact policies do they have besides lying and grifting? Show us one! Because you can not. Fake CRT... crap.... |
Sully is just as crazy as Ficker — he just doesn’t have the loooong public record Ficker had. R’s are trying the Youngkin playbook in MoCo—take someone without a record and claim they are moderate during the campaign and the govern like like a nut job. Vote for Sullivan if you want to bring the culture wars to MoCo. Fortunately, in the end no matter how many fake “democrats” post here it isn’t going to work. |
Funny that you’re surprised. This is who Riemer is. |
I’m one you consider a fake Democrat. I’ve only voted for one Republican in my life, and I did that because that candidate was a better choice than the Democratic one. We have the same issue here. I’d rather take Sullivan’s lack of a record over Elrich’s disastrous one. Clearly others agree with me. I don’t believe in throwing logic out the door and voting for a candidate for no other reason than the letter behind their name. I also don’t deal on hyperbole. Voting for Sullivan won’t “bring the culture wars to MoCo.” What it WILL do is balance the council, which is necessary for the growth of the county. |

Are all of you voting for Sully actual GOP members, not Dems? Cannot believe any Dem would vote for any GOP member.
Do you not remember what happened/is happening since people voted in Trump just because they wanted something different? |
The country is in worse shape than with Trump. The buck stops with Biden. His approval rating is low and us dems are tired of it. |
Elrich will vote to approve thrive in the end, if that’s your concern I wouldn’t worry about it. |
I can’t believe you could be this stupid. The state of thinks during a current administration largely reaps what the previous administration sows. Economic growth pre-covid under Trump was due to Obama’s management of the economy turning it around from the recession the Bush years brought on. Inflation under Biden is due to a lot of things, mostly related to supply chain SNAFUs in China from their Covid Zero policy, gas prices from the OPEC elite, but a lot of the domestic turmoil is from the Trump mismanagement. Republicans create messes, Democrats effectively clean up 25% of them but get blamed for the 75% they are unable to clean up. |
Governor Hogan was re-elected last time around. He's an R and could only with in blue MD with a lot of D votes. He also has the highest approval rating of any governor in the country. The library in Bethesda is named for Connie Morella -- a Republican who represented the area in Congress for many years. Republicans can get elected in MD. It's not easy, but it happens, and they do it with votes from Democrats. |
Same. Haven’t voted for a Republican since the 90s. Registered Democrat since 1988. Elrich is awful. Sullivan is too conservative for me but he’s not crazy. And he will bring diversity of thought and maybe some watchdog oversight, to a one party government that has gone corrupt because nobody is watching them. Or people don’t care how corrupt they are as long as they agree on the issues. We are collectively running the county into the ground. There is no innovation. No plan for business growth, jobs, and skill development for much of the younger, less educated, lower income population that is coming to the county. Social safety net programs are great for the short term and I am all in. But NOBODY has a plan for the long term. |
I have taught my kids for decades now to take each individual at face value and try not to judge/stereotype by group. Judge the individual, not the party. Consider that a local office has no real power to support national politics. What does each candidate want to do for Montgomery County? Not what each party wants. |
Sullivan doesn't seem too crazy to me either, and there's the all-D county council to keep him in check if necessary. |
