They don’t see the whole report card. For Blair SMAC they only see math and science. Not sure about computer science as it only applies for TPMS. |
What do you mean by A-? The report cards only say A. (Also how do you not get 100 percent in PE?!) |
It was clear from the presentation last night that they do NOT see the whole report card. |
| The real question is how they got 30 middle schools represented if the application blinds out the middle school. |
| It absolutely seemed like there is more to it than Math/Sci grades, Map-M, essay, but they just don't or can't say what. |
He specifically said that, plus gender, is all the info they get. Are you saying he was lying? |
He didn’t say 30 middle schools represented each year. Maybe that’s what he meant but he might have also meant that it’s 30 throughout all for high school grade levels of the magnet. |
I didn’t hear him say gender and I was listening out for it. |
Four not for, typo. |
NP. I was there and heard him say they know gender. |
Not at all. He was amazing! I suppose I am reading into it because I am in a similar position at my job where I have to be transparent but also guard information and there were a lot of "well, really"s and pregnant pauses and a clear effort to keep the emphasis on the right stuff. I would venture to guess - just my guess - that if Blair gets any input at all it's to form a pool and central office decides. Didn't he say that Blair used to decide their own admissions and no longer does? I might have misheard but I thought he said they were pretty much not the deciders. |
He dad say that they dont decide but then he said a committee sits around a table reviewing everyone and made it sound like he was outside the door! |
He said they used to control the process, which is now centralized. They still make the decisions (albeit from a very limited amount of data.) |
| My kid has one B in 3rd period in 7th grade, will this the grade make him less competitive? Or the HS only look the overall grade? Thanks |
What subject is it in? For Blair SMAC they don’t even see non STEM subjects. If it’s in math, for example, yes, uncompetitive. |
