| So many threads about this. Barking dogs aren’t going anywhere neither are screaming children. You can choose not to have, but they still surround you unless you live in the middle of nowhere and in that case dogs would be > children. Better senses and lower maintenance. |

I love dogs, but a lot of responsibility comes with having a dog or dogs.
There are good dog owners and there are bad dog owners. But, even as a lover of dogs, I do not like hyperactive tiny dogs or large, ferocious breeds. I understand those who do not like dogs' barking, excessively excited behavior, or presence of dog waste. |

I would find that frustrating as well, OP, and I have a dog! He's the silent sort, but can be reactive towards others dogs, so he's always on leash when out and about. I love animals, but I agree that animals should not become a nuisance to people. |
Cats are pest control. There is even a theory that the rise of cat killings due to the Catholic church's anti witch crusade contributed to the rapid spread of the black plague. So they do serve a purpose! |
Ugh... this. People have no idea the regulations that rule farmers. They are required to not harvest any crop where animal feces has been spotted in the field. But I was at Whole Foods the other day and two people were pushing their "baby" around in the main part of the cart, where the next people need to put their food. So E. coli from deer or rabbits cause the food to be thrown away, but I can put my produce down where your dog's butt was and there is no problem. In this case, I was a "Karen," despite knowing that it was futile, and reminded them that this was against health codes. But I have no illusion that they will stop. |

This is a owner problem not dog problem.
Our dog is only outside in our yard (fully fenced) or on a leash. She is trained to be quiet after given the command but she does bark when anyone approaches the house- as she is supposed to. She does not bark otherwise. We clean up her messes- including when walking on outdoor trails that are grass or leaves. She gets walked regularly. I take her to my kids soccer practice and walk her while they practice. When waiting for practice to finish, I stand off to the side and away from any sidewalks/walking paths. When walking with her, I move out of the way of others or have her sit while other people pass. She has lived in the city and suburbs. She is mouthy when people enter our house due to excitement/anxiety (typical of her breed) but has been trained to go get a stuffy when someone comes into the house which keeps her mouth occupied. If she needs to go out she comes and lays her head on your hand or knee. If she is ignored, she will lick once. Owning dogs is a two-way street. You need to learn your specific dog and their needs. |

I can’t stand dogs that bark constantly all day and night long. Up the street behind a solid 6ft high fence the people have two dogs who bark whenever they here anything pass and hurl themselves at the fence. It’s actually scary because the fence shakes and I’m afraid it’s going to give out one day. They do this even if you are across the street. We walk by multiple times a day as there is no other path to get our kids to/from school.
Then a house on the perpendicular to us has some sort of enormous hound dog that brays all night long. I don’t even get how the people that love with it can stand it as it drives us batty sitting there in the evenings and our kids complain it wakes them up. |
Yep I am there with you. I don't like dogs. Cats are my people. |

I like animals but they smell. All of them. And, I've taken care of too many souls in my life to ever have one I have to walk, clean or even pet.
Someone said parenting is being on sensory overload all the time. I'm done. Nothing left for pets. |

I am not a dog lover but I have a lot of dogs surrounding me and I rarely ever hear barking. The dog who lives on the other side of our fence never, ever makes noise yet her owner is constantly yelling at the dog. She is far more annoying than the dog. I have a neighbor a few houses down who I didn't even know had dogs but saw her daughter walking two dogs yesterday. This is the first time I have seen those dogs in the 7 years I've lived here.
I have two issues with dogs (and really their owners). 1. Leaving dog poop on the sidewalk. Clean that up. 2. Bringing dogs into public places where they don't belong--restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, doctors offices--I feel like there are no boundaries these days. Not a fan of dogs on airplanes and hotels but I get that can be a necessity. And I'm not anti-dog in all public places--outdoor cafes, Home Depot, even walking around the mall (but not in stores) fine. But people have lost all sense these days. |
| I find it annoying that people (or someone) posts this same thing so often. |
My creature is a better companion than a judge-y human who thinks "beckon call" makes sense. |
Is this the P St WF? Yuck! |
| At Walmart I saw an obese dachshund, fast asleep in a filthy dog bed, in a shopping cart. An old lady said "That's against health codes" and the owner snarled "He's a service dog." A lot of service was being provided by the sleeping dog. |
I haven't been able to discern it. Posting here I guess. Regardless, pets do not serve a purpose and therefore people do. It's just basic logic. |
