This is a gimmick. Republicans have realized that the majority of Americans are opposed to total abortion bans and the Republicans want to paint themselves as the rational ones here by banning them after 15 weeks- and they will then make outlandish claims that all democrats want people to get abortions on demand up until the moment of delivery.

Republicans: let's introduce legislation that has broad popular support
Democrats: that's a gimmick!

A 15-week ban does not have broad popular support, but it’s very Republican of you to assume facts not in evidence and think most people agree with you when they don’t.

In Republican world, 43% is a supermajority.

Well, to be fair in a Republican world it can appoint Supreme Court Justices by a president who lost the popular vote that are then confirmed by Senators representing far fewer than half the population.

Pretty sure all the aborted kids would support Lindsey Graham. Let say a prayer for the murdered unborn.

Kids are not aborted.

If only we could abort Republican senators. And the people who voted for them.

Talk about a waste of space.

If you guys can't see that insisting on a federal, abortion at any stage and for any reason approach is just as extreme, you are part of the problem.

Nope, we are insisting on giving back women's right to bodily autonomy, healthcare and choice to them. We are insisting on respecting their decision and trust that they would make the right choice.

Well, while one must admire your commitment to bothsideswhataboutism, there is no such legislation on the table, in fact. And no Dems have ever talked about doing such.

Also forced birthed fascists: you’re on your own kid. Your mom shouldn’t have had you if she couldn’t afford you. I don’t care what your medical or economic concerns are, they’re not mine. Take care of your own ish.

Accurate in every way.

What’s a “federal abortion”? Also how are you so pig ignorant on this subject still?

The way to do this is expand the court and restore Roe.

DP - yes I’m a broken record.

Nobody has insisted on that federally.

What about “state’s rights”? What a bunch of liars.

It’s like they live in a fantasy world and want to force us all to live there too.

Hard pass.

I know you know this, but it was never about states’ rights, it was about putting women in their place and establishing the christofascist state.

Exactly.

Until Congress passes a law protecting access to abortion and then they’ll start whining about it again. Because they are utterly unprincipled. I don’t know why anyone thinks otherwise.
