35 votes, Elrich won, but it is not the end

That’s correct. The problem is Elrich basically spent the last 4 years allowing the Council to drive the agenda. I’m not sure that many of the new CMs understand that people are basically fine with things as is and not some progressive fantasy.

Job losses will increase significantly. Immigration will also increase significantly. This will cause an influx of multi family housing to migrate into western Montgomery county and you will soon see those schools and crime follow in the footsteps of east county.
Businesses will close down as people lose jobs and can no longer afford a $50 meal at Pike &Rose.
Our taxes will increase and subsidize ridiculous county pet projects.
All the diversity initiatives will backfire as everyone will be afraid to speak in fear of offending someone. Hate and distrust will increase and cause
self-segregation amongst various racial and ethnic groups.
I moved from Burtonsville after my kids witnessed a kid in their class hit a pregnant teacher. The behavioral issues at these schools is frightening. We now live on n a shithole in bethesda and have to deal with lack of street parking, overcrowded schools and more crime due to several families cramming into similar shitholes. People are getting mean everywhere because we are scared.

Don’t forget more bike lanes so the popes can ride their bikes to work in the rain. And more silly bus lines that share lanes with regular traffic.
The increase in hate and distrust will certainly continue to grow. With no sros and increase in restorative justice and poorer kids in mcps, you will see all schools tank and some of them will become even more scary than they already are. No one will believe unless they pop in for a surprise visit and see for themselves.

I changed parties just so I could vote for Elrich. Because he’s exactly what the libs of this county deserve, and I want to help him ruin it.

I hope every prediction made in this this thread comes true, plus some. Voters made this a one party county, ruled by the farthest left nut jobs to win their primaries, and I want to be sure they get what they voted for. Anything that hurts this county, I’m all for. I want to see it crash and burn.

I’m moving in 3 years, my home Albans been paid off since Bush, and I’m leaving. So yes, I want to help far left loons ruin this county for the run-of-the-mill libs who live here.

Elrich has been CE for the last 4 years and MoCo doesn’t feel like a hellhole to me. In fact, I feel like my neighborhood and school have gotten better, not worse. And no I don’t live in Bethesda or CC.

It does to me. I have been touched by gun violence four times in the past year, including having my son locked down in the county’s first school shooting in history. Not coincidentally, the first year after Elrich personally and unilaterally pulled SROs out of schools.

Three of those gun violence incidents involved teenagers. One is dead.

So you think Elrich is pro gun or something?

I’m a different poster. I don’t think he’s pro-gun. I think he acts anti public-safety, along with the rest of the council. They treat MCPD horribly, which has resulted in many early retirements and few recruits. The remaining police are stretched thin and unsupported. (This is why I supported Blair.)

Then you thought Blair would win with the provisionals. Then you thought the extra ballots found would flip the results to Blair. Now you have all your hopes on the recount. Then, what, you're going to pray for a Hail Mary and a Republican victory in a county that's D+50? More Copium!

You’re laughing that your candidate won a primary by 35 votes? Ok.

+1honestlu, thanks for the reminder Elrich voters are dumb as rock's

No, we live on the east side of the county (not TP) where developers want to throw up crap dense housing for poorer people.

I didn't want to elect someone funded out of his own pocket (Blair) who would probably throw us to the developer wolves and chase us non wealthy sfh owners out to Frederick. I actually make under 150k, work in in MoCo and want to be able.yo afford to buy a sfh in MoCo.

If anyone pays that much money out of their own pocket to win an election, there is a reason. Hopefully my vote was one of 35.

I'm all for business development in MoCo, but with someone else besides Blair.

Don’t understand the logic: Blair was the only pro-business candidate. When you voted for Erlich you decided for Frederick business growth.

Yes. Which Elrich is fine with. I am bookmarking this thread and will resurrect it when taxes go up and services get cut. People get the government they deserve.

Service cuts won’t happen until later.

The first step is cuts to the Capital budget, so all the infrastructure will deteriorate. Second step is new programs for targeted groups. Third step is to reduce or flatline services to more affluent areas in the county. This will take about 4-5 years to really come to a head before the council will need to make major announced service cuts or even have to face clear choices, like running libraries full time or maintaining sidewalks versus giving millions in non-competive grants to CASA or snowplowing some peoples sidewalks but not others because they are “needy”.

It's been happening, and now he can do more. He already cut police services.

He added 10% cost or so to the CIP without really adding anything new. That's for his Net Zero energy sources/infrastructure. Meanwhile, everyone scrambled to delay other projects so that the CIP was balanced. To me, that's de facto cutting the capital budget. How many school projects got delayed to make fiscal room for his Net Zero crap?

There will be no cuts to CASA.
There will be no cuts to fund lawyers for immigrants facing deportation.
There will be no cuts to housing the immigrants being bussed in from Texas.
There will be no cuts to the Green Bank ($18 million a year based on a "temporary tax" that Leggett put in place a decade ago).
There will be no cuts to building the electric fleet, even though they can't afford to replace all the vehicles they need to replace. And "that" will cut services. Or demand emergency appropriations to buy more.

And don't forget, he built this year's budget on one-time federal funds that they won't have anymore. A savings plan later this fiscal year, or sometime next year is almost guaranteed.

Council is to blame too. But they work off of what the CE gives them.

This is the sad truth. They will run schools at the state mandated minimum budget level, cut park funding, cut police funding, etc before they will cut any of this. The Council personally doles out over 30$ million per year in non-competitive grants as a sort of slush fund. It became so much that they had to create a whole new bureaucracy to manage it. None of this nonsense will be cut, but watch your roads deteriorate.

That's quite a bizarre rant.

He's anti-police. But rumor has it he has guns. So I really can't make sense of him. Maybe he's pro-vigilante justice?

This 100 percent Riemer’s fault. Riemer supporters should bow out of county politics for a couple of years. They forfeited their right to complain about Elrich by helping him get re-elected.

Oh yes, this is true. If only the people in the county knew what he is doing to the police.
