Are Subarus rich people cars?

Anonymous
I drive a Subaru even though I could drive something more expensive. It is pretty nice inside if you get the limited version with heated leather seats, it drives great in the snow and on dirt when we go hiking, fits my kids' sports gear, but doesn't feel like a full size SUV, and it's reasonable on gas for my longish commute during the work week. I've looked at other cars, but I haven't found anything I like better. In the past I've driven a Lexus and BMW, and DH drives a high end car. Subaru is just my preferred car.

I once bought a Subaru for 500 bucks. Replaced a wheel bearing myself, ran great. Rich people are the ones who pay cash for good, used vehicles and do their own repairs. We have no car payments.

Definitely reevaluate that, because they are on the list of worst cars to own.

News to me, so I tried to look it up...and here's my finding: https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/10-least-reliable-cars-a2967595976/

Note the first car on the least reliable list...is a Subaru.

LOL, I'm not a big Subaru fan, but PP, according to the article, "They’re presented in rank order, counting down to the least reliable model."

... but you understand that all ten of them are unreliable, yes? In fact, ranked as the ten least reliable of the all the cars evaluated.

The little hatchback ones are great city cars. Forget the name. They’re cute.

um. the "first car on the list" doesn't mean the least reliable.. that would be a Mercedes -- Mercedes-Benz GLE Reliability: 5

Note that the Subaru on that list is 2022 Ascent, which is their newest model. Newer models usually have issues for the first couple of years until they get the kinks out.

We have 2, but we're not rich.

+1. My in-laws. People with money who do not like to part with it. (DH on the other hand, expensive cars all the way)

I have a Subaru, I am not rich. My husband is from out west and out there they needed AWD cars, so his family has had Subarus for years. The thing with Subarus is that even though they may cost a little more than your Rav4/CRV type cars, they will last forever (I'm on year 12).

No, PP is talking about an Impreza. Only posers buy Crosstreks. You are clearly not a Subaru4Life person.

Huh? I would bet money on both the rav4 and crv over a Subaru for longevity all day long.

excuse me.. a crosstrek also has a hatchback, and they are small. How dare you claim I'm not a Subaru4Life person. I have now owned 2, and will possibly be getting 2 more. Of all the nerve!!!

I’m in the market for a new SUV that takes regular gas, has excellent visibility without being reliant on cams, is reliable and fits in my garage. The Forester is high on my list but they have not brought a turbo version to the US. I might hang onto my low 2010 low mileage Mercedes another year to wait for it.

My kids’ tutor, who works at a public school, drives a Subaru and has a horse, but tells me he eats at McDonald’s and Anita’s because it’s cheap. I see this inconsistency very often in people who also drive Mercedes, BMW.
