Fake nails - tacky or not?

What’s with the hate on fake lashes? I get very natural looking lashes because my own are unbelievably short and it’s great. I never feel the need to wear makeup day to day because my eyes always look done. Huge time saver.

It's a weird question because really - tacky to whom?

If you're hanging out in a lifestyle where everyone wears long stiletto nails and fake eyelashes, then amongst your tribe - you are not "tacky". In some of my friend circles, the longer and more blinged out the better - even with eyelashes. But I have a very diverse circle of friends - sometimes my circles overlap but oftentimes they don't. In one "world", they would be frowned upon and ppl would be clutching pearls, in another "world", the girls go crazy and want to know the name of the nail tech.

It's really a tacky question more than anything. Let people live. Being classy never really got us girls anywhere tbh. Repressed, depressed, and joyless lives doesn't make it better to live it - esp when you're so concerned about what others think about it.

I get short fake nails in a neutral color whenever I want to try to stop biting them. I think it looks more professional than my bitten stubs.

I'm so tired of these pointless questions? Because behind it is judgment and contempt for other women. Stop obsessing over things like this.

It depends on your circle.

The best long nails that I ever saw were cow print in pink and white worn by one of my employees.

Except for rare special occasions, I don't get them because I don't want to pay to maintain them, and because it's just not practical with little kids, pets, work, etc. But I really like them on other people. And I am not into any other "fake" beauty stuff like lashes.

Non-tacky example:

Um, no... that is very much a tacky example. Here are some non-tackies:

*yawn* Are those even fake? They just look like regular nails. What's the point?

These are so boring. I don’t understand why people don’t get color in their nails.

I used to work in a hospital and people were prohibited from wearing them in certain jobs b/c of the bacteria colonization issue.

I think fake nails (any kind, tips, acrylics, powder etc.) always look tacky. Regardless of how they are varnished or their length.

I'm a shorter nailed lady who keeps my natural nails no more than 2-3mm long, squares or squarish oval. I do a weekly at home mani, and do wear a variety of colours every week. For me it's not about saving money by doing home manis. I do actually go for monthly pedicures.

Anyone else in my camp with thinking fake nails are tacky? Or am I the lone one on this?

I’ve got better things to think about and the subtle racism of this thread is distasteful

This is the stupidest thing I've read in a long time. I don't particularly like long fake nails on women - of ANY color. But who cares? Its just my opinoin and has absolutely nothing to with the color of your skin. People like the PP are exhausting and do more to hurt the cause of eliminating true racism than helping it. If everytime someone has an opinoin about something you are going to label it racist you have totally lost your battle.

But PP is right. Especially that little "Very DMV of you." quip back towards the beginning. We all know what she was trying to say.
