May get some heat for this...😏. To each their own. Just curious what the general public opinion is.
I think fake nails (any kind, tips, acrylics, powder etc.) always look tacky. Regardless of how they are varnished or their length. I'm a shorter nailed lady who keeps my natural nails no more than 2-3mm long, squares or squarish oval. I do a weekly at home mani, and do wear a variety of colours every week. For me it's not about saving money by doing home manis. I do actually go for monthly pedicures. Anyone else in my camp with thinking fake nails are tacky? Or am I the lone one on this? |
I do. And fake eyelashes. |
Super tacky and LMC. |
Of course. But who cares what I think? Power to those who have them and love them. I’m not any better than they are because my nails are different. |
If they are obviously fake, yes. But I suppose I wouldn't notice if they were natural-looking. |

I just got tips for the first time two weeks ago bc I was sick of my stubby nails and wanted to give it a try (and I wanted to try a cool design like it trendy right now). It was fun for a week or so but now they feel really long and are annoying me. I'm going to try to keep my natural nails longer for a few months but getting a dip mani every couple weeks. Some may have thought it looked tacky but what does it matter. |
+1 I don't care and most people can't tell the different anyway unless they are really long. |
I don't like fake nails (or fake lashes or fake boobs or botox or fake tans). I think they always look tacky. But, that's just me. My opinion means nothing when it comes to what other people do with their bodies. |
I mean, they’re popular for younger, trendy women. Most of us aren’t even in the right demographic group to comment. |
+1 |
fake nails that could be your real nails and not very long, fine. long nails with special art ... kind of trashy, IMO.
fake lashes that make getting ready easier, fine. cow lashes, trashy. |
This. And stop with the eyelashes the look atrocious. |
They are OFTEN tacky, but not always. But I love them (both the tacky and classy versions). Except for rare special occasions, I don't get them because I don't want to pay to maintain them, and because it's just not practical with little kids, pets, work, etc. But I really like them on other people. And I am not into any other "fake" beauty stuff like lashes.

This. Especially the really long lashes that look like a bug of some sort is living on the person's eye. It's distracting and trashy. |
