I always wonder on threads on this forum whether it is just one or two posters who come in to s*it on other people's kids or if there are that many miserable people.

Ridiculous. Good for you getting into better schools. Virginia schools are so frustrating.

But really, would they have gone to those schools?
Nope. So why would they be accepted? Unless they ED’d there.

No top 25 school is a "safety" for anyone. For kids with top stats, Georgetown is a lottery with better odds than Stanford, but it's still a lottery. Not sure any top 50 school can really be a safety these days, for that matter.

The fact this thread was started in JULY suggests a few scenarios to me:

a. OP is telling the truth and missing all the attention her child's accomplishment garnered him or her this past spring.
b. OP is a parent of a kid who fell short of their expected collage acceptances and OP is still working through that emotional blow by, as you noted, s*itting on other people's kids.
c. OP is a bored teenager amusing themselves rather than starting their summer reading assignment.

A URM?

Was thinking the same. Emory is very diverse so may not need as many URM students. My DS friend (Black) two years ago was in at UChicago rejected at Emory.
