It really is a crap shoot at the top colleges!

DD got into MIT and Harvard; was rejected at Stanford and University of Pennsylvania.

Any others?

I have a rising senior and I'm interested in this type of information. If people could also add a sentence as to why you think your dc got in where he/she did but didn't elsewhere, that'd be really appreciated.

Wow, my dc is interested in Northwestern. We thought it would definitely be easier than UPenn. Any ties to Penn like legacy?

Considering that both NU and Pomona have lower or equal acceptance rates to the forementioned , not sure why this would be surprising.

OP here. 1600 SAT, 3.99 unweighted GPA, 14 APs. Regular public high school (not magnet but well ranked).

In at Occidental and UCLA; rejected at Scripps and Berkeley. We’re California residents.

In at UNC rejected at Florida. Attending UNC and would 100% chosen that over Florida anyway so just an ego thing.
