I love that people don’t get this.

It is a movie from 42 years ago. Why would they?

Actually, there are many references to movies and TV shows, some quite recent...maybe stop being a curmudgeon and get a sense of humor?

DP. Favoritism of IRMs and first-generations is a fact if life and a perfectly acceptable question . If you don’t like it go back to college Confidential or start a thread in politics

Some of us don’t have the luxury of typing on a desktop and have to make due with hunting and pecking on tiny phones. Take your snark elsewhere

They don't know (it is pure speculation).

+1. There is no rhyme nor reason. It just is.

Lol in case no one else notices, this is also a joke post, as is the one atop the message.

It's not even a question really, some people on DCUM just hate Emory for some reason. Their DC's were probably rejected.

+1 it's a bit strange. Tulane wasn't even considered a serious university 15 years ago.

The fact this thread was started in JULY suggests a few scenarios to me:

a. OP is telling the truth and missing all the attention her child's accomplishment garnered him or her this past spring.
b. OP is a parent of a kid who fell short of their expected collage acceptances and OP is still working through that emotional blow by, as you noted, s*itting on other people's kids.
c. OP is a bored teenager amusing themselves rather than starting their summer reading assignment.

NP here.
I always wonder when I see comments like this if there are just one or two people who are jealous of kids who get into elite colleges, or there are that many miserable people. Now that I think about it, it’s probably just this one poster!

Rejected: UNC, JMU, Duke

JMU was her "safe school," so she was devastated to be rejected.
