Next Level is a solid program that is just one step above rec. They focus mainly on the boys. High coaching staff turnover. Girls HS program is non-existent even though it has been in existence for many years. Bethesda is great for rec. It is parent-coached, which is fun for all. Once you go to travel, there are too many politics in the parent-coach model to be successful. No HS program, but is "merging" with Capitals. Renegades is not Moco and not part of this analysis. MC Elite is only for girls. Youth teams are great and the HS program is very well-respected by college players and coaches. Coaching staff turnover is not any different from NL or BLC. Regardless of what you read here, you should reach out to each and hear what they have to say. |
Anyone know when MC results come out? |
This is fake news. It is not a sinking ship -- quite the opposite. There were several girls from Next Level, BLC and Stars that were at tryouts for the younger teams. |
What ages do you mean by "younger teams"? |
I saw that too. |
Doesn't mean much. What matters is the coaching, which is usually scant to non-existent. Without decent coaching, the athletes don't develop. So even if those girls joined, they would only be hurting their own development. By all means, avoid the B teams....they are only there to produce income to support the A teams and college recruiting. |
This is absolutely false news from the Stars front. MC elite would be the biggest step down for those girls. Time to move on from this thread |
I was asking what grad year the previous poster saw stars players from. |
This thread is quick to question someone rather than consider there may be a lot of reasons a girls may want to switch teams (convenience, not clicking with current team, not getting playing time, who knows). What is great for own girls may not be right for another, which is probably why these clubs survive. There were definitely girls from the team mentioned above at my daughter’s year, as well as hero’s.
I am sure capital will be the best HS DMV team and the Baltimore teams will be great too but there might not be as big a difference as you think for some years. There are a lot of players to go around. |
Pretty amusing comment on this. Why would it be so hard to believe ayers from Stars or other clubs would be at MC elite tryouts? Maybe they are seeing what else is out there and keeping their options open. When you say a step down, Stars is nothing to write home about. After their 26 team, they are not good. They don't go to any good tournaments and never play top competition. Stars is at best a B club and that's being nice. Don't forget about the constant parent influence there and the terrible SSSA politics. Guess it's a step down though? Maybe you should move on and let others see what options are out there and that Stars is crashing and burning. At least Capital has other feeder teams now to pull from. |
Anyone know when MC will release results from tryouts? |
It is crazy how early these tryouts are. Has MC Elite finished their summer season? No MidAtlantic Summer Club Championship? Soon clubs are going to be having tryouts before ½ of their summer season is over. |
Many of MC Elite younger teams finished. Some only got 2 tournaments - Impulse and Beach Blast. $3000 should get a few more summer tournaments. |
Would be great to pay less but I don’t want tournaments every weekend in June for younger girls. There will be middle school and high school to play that kind of lacrosse schedule. Two really good tournaments is enough for younger girls, imo - especially coming off the grind of driving to Baltimore for NGLL. Play days are great too but also want my dd to be playing other sports etc in the summer. I do like a
Couple of practices each week and scrimmaging local teams. |
$3000 is for the program that started in September and ended in June. Some of those months didn’t have much going on. Some of them 2 practices and games. Enough already with those bashing a youth sports program. I was quite happy if not overwhelmed by the amount of lacrosse my daughter got this year. (She is a multi sport athlete like all of her MCE teammates). Otherwise it just consumes you. And you go on anonymous crazy rants. |
