Disappointed coming back to the U.S

Really? True if you have money, but that’s true everywhere. The quality of life in the UK is much better for the average person. The US health care system is a mess. When I lived in the UK my high taxes went to universal health care. The NHS isn’t perfect, no. But if my cleaning lady got cancer, she would have been taken care of, not gone into debt for the rest of her life.

And…. I never once worried about mass shootings. That’s pretty high on my list of quality of life.

When was this? 2000?

Dubai is humid? Did someone really say that?

I’m not saying the US is better in every way - for obvious reasons I’m REALLY frustrated and sad this week - but I’m certainly not looking to leave for the UK. Lol.

No, you cannot get better Indian food in DC than in London. That’s patently false. Indian food in this area is horrible!

DP.. I completely disagree with OP, but I agree with the PP. The national food in the UK is now curry. When you go to an amusement park in the UK, curry is everywhere (with chips).

But in general, food choices in the US is leagues better than the UK, and my spouse is a Brit and agrees.

I suppose if you lived in podunk, NE, then yea, food choice is limited, but that would be the case if you lived in backwater, UK.

I hope OP realizes that not all of the UK is like London.

And I never want to set foot in an oppressive place like Dubai. Ever.

DP.. ? They don't have mass shootings, and NHS is still alive, and ^PP is correct. I know a few people who received free cancer treatments via the NHS. It's not the best, but it's better than the US if you are not wealthy, which most of us are not.

lol

As a former Californian, this made me laugh.

I miss a lot about CA, but the col is not one of them.

However, I miss the weather and general laid back attitude they have there. But, personally, I like the greenery of MD.

We have far more Indians in the dc metro area than London or the entire uk. If you haven’t found good Indian food, then I suspect you don’t know what good Indian food is.

Nope, I know what good Indian food is because I make it at home, and I know there’s many Indians in this area, but there are no places to get good Indian food here (other than someone’s house). You’re welcome to prove me wrong but I’ve tried them all.

My parents live in London and we spend summers with them. I spend a lot of time cooking Mexican food. Their friends all love it, can't get it and are impressed (!!) with my abilities to cook it (!!).

No one should live in a place without easy access to Mexican food.

Agreed (NP here). I lived in the UK and there seemed to be an Indian restaurant at every street corner. “Going out for a curry” was something we did all the time and it was always excellent (unlike here in the US).

For the people bad-mouthing Dubai, have you even been there? Judging by your stupid, ignorant, racist, islamophobic comments…I suspect none of you have ever set foot there.

I have been to the Middle East. It is an OK place TO VISIT. I would not want to live there. I have nothing against Islam, so your Islamaphobia comment doesn’t stick with me. The U. S. is not perfect, but one area we are better than Dubai, UAE and a lot of the Middle East, is freedom of religion.

I was born in the UAE. Dubai is just awful.
