Disappointed coming back to the U.S

Anonymous
We were visiting family in Dubai and London and have come back feeling disappointed in America. Everything here sucks. The food is bland, and the people drab and unsophisticated. I wish I lived abroad!

What's stopping you from moving?

We have spices you can buy here. I heard some people add them to their foods for flavor. Maybe you could try that? I don't know much about how it works - just heard about it once from a stranger telling someone else. Maybe there's a place online you can look. Good luck!

I’m sure you could get a job in Dubai if you tried.

My spouse is from the UK. I enjoy going there, but I would never say that the food there is better than here. Where do you live in the US that the food is bland? The US has, by far, much more variety in foods than the UK. Spouse's cousin moved here from the UK and is loving the food choices (and yes, gained way too much weight).

As far as sophistication goes, please. You posting this on here is just drivel and makes you look like a wannabe. You realize that the vast majority of Brits aren't sophisticated, right?

I think we have better food here, but I suppose it depends on where you live. I also think people generally appear the same here v abroad. I know we’re fatter (most obviously in lower income/middle class areas), but there are a lot of fat people overseas too.

I love traveling as much as possible, but one thing I appreciate lost about people oversees is their direct and candid way of conversing and their simple confidence.

Sorry, I meant what I appreciate *most*

Dubai is nothing but empty highways and chain restaurants from other parts of the world - what are you talking about?

Based on the title of this thread, I thought you'd be disappointed coming back to the U.S. due to the shootings. Little did I know, you are suffering by rubbing elbows with "drab and unsophisticated" Americans.

Well, you should definitely move to Dubai! You can be among your elite peers, enjoying slave labor, indoor skiing and spicy food. Who needs human rights if you've got designer clothes? Bye!

Understandable, since this is a totally homogenous country of only 335M nearly identical people, in only 3.5M very similar square miles. No variety, clearly. Sayonara!

American food is bland? You think London food is better?

Americans are unsophisticated? You think the lack of human rights in Dubai is sophisticated?

Lol.

Just another unsophisticated rube who thinks going on vacation for a week after the school year makes them elite. Meanwhile they and their cousins are sending their kids only to American or elite European schools.

I have travelled all over. There is no place better to live --- as opposed to visit anywhere. Standard of living here is much higher. Comforts are much more.

Not sure what we are supposed to do with this information
