I know nothing about private schools and options available. We are able to move anywhere in country. But prefer to stay in dmv. Welcome suggestions.

Don’t look at Catholic schools.

We didn’t stay in fcps. We homeschooled. We want to have another option for next year. Just realizing it will not get better as we witness how they are unable to follow any common sense protocols when surges increase etc. and they no longer communicate close contacts etc. private schools have a little more flexibility so seeking new options.

You’re not getting your kids into any half way decent private school in the DMV or anywhere else for next year. Homeschool continues for you.

I think that you run the risk of making a really big change -- like moving to Boston -- for a policy that is in place now, but may not be there by the fall. I have kids in two different privates that require kids to be vaccinated, but they have both dropped their testing programs and have gone mask optional. The vast majority of people in both places opt out of masks.

What if you enroll your kids in one of the online schools? I know GW has one. There are others.

Thank you. Didn’t realize that. Appreciate it.

I disagree with this. I have kids at a Catholic school in Arlington that has been pretty science-based with its requirements. But agree with PPs above that masks will probably be gone everywhere in the fall.

You can disagree all you want. My children are at a Catholic private in DC and had a teacher at school with symptoms. Turns out it was covid and email sent out stating “masks required for 10 days for close contact students.” Nearly half of those required to mask are not for the entirely of the day. No enforcement whatsoever.

People have been quadruple vaxed and are still getting it and you think a mask is going to protect you? Lol. If you’re that gullible, just home school your kid.

Okay stupid. The OP asked about covid cautious schools. I have an example of how one school is not. Everyone knows that home schooling is the only completely preventative way. The OP didn’t ask that., you damn idiot.

If they’re slinging insults they have no argument.

Pot calling kettle.

Hey moron with zero reading comprehension skills. That poster was responding to another poster complaining about a school not enforcing masks after a notification went out that’ there was an exposure. Pot meet kettle.

Who need the their reading comprehension checked?

If you are looking for flexible remote schooling options those days are over. Schools that offered that in 2020 stopped once kids and families were vaxxed. Best to look for a vaccine requirement and regular testing - but I think those may also go away next year too. Seems crazy to move schools just for this when all these protocols are being dismantled.

How to research Covid protocols at schools and bully them into doing more and more constraints?

Is this a joke OP? Or do your kids have some serious ailments?

This.

That's not what he actually said though -- he spoke too technically and it was broadly misinterpreted by the media headline grabbers.

No one actually gave any names of private schools that are reintroducing masks or have been more Covid causations (smaller sizes, spacing with tables, less rotations with other classes, isolation rooms different from nurse room, etc.). If anyone has a school they think is doing a good job in mitigation please share. I’m interested as well.

Our k-8 had all these mitigations in place, but has gotten rid of all of them at this point.
