How to research more Covid cautious private schools?

We have family members at high risk and will continue to vaccinate and boost our children. However, I’m looking for a private school that is strategically thinking about Covid impacts and has flexibility to change protocols when outbreaks and surges happen. My children deserve a quality education and my family members that are immunocompromised deserve to stay healthy and not impacted by poor public school management that has no flexibility due to their state’s policies. Private school sizes are smaller and seem to be more on top of things in communicating close contacts.

I am going to take OP seriously. Maybe they have a nigh risk family member. How do you know? For people at high risk Covid is not over and safety precautions matter. I agree that lots--maybe most--Catholic schools would be a poor choice for OP. Catholicism talks a good game about caring for the vulnerable but I don't see them acting on it in this context very much. But some Catholic schools might be better than others. You'd have to look at the particular school. The best you will probably find in any school is a school that will try accommodate the needs of particular students. All schools are under immense pressure to declare this thing over, and people aren't thinking about high risk situations or long covid. The Boston schools sound like an intriguing possibility for OP.

OP, what grades for your kids?

I know nothing about private schools and options available. We are able to move anywhere in country. But prefer to stay in dmv. Welcome suggestions.

Don’t look at Catholic schools.

Thank you. Didn’t realize that. Appreciate it.

I disagree with this. I have kids at a Catholic school in Arlington that has been pretty science-based with its requirements. But agree with PPs above that masks will probably be gone everywhere in the fall.

You can disagree all you want. My children are at a Catholic private in DC and had a teacher at school with symptoms. Turns out it was covid and email sent out stating “masks required for 10 days for close contact students.” Nearly half of those required to mask are not for the entirely of the day. No enforcement whatsoever.

People have been quadruple vaxed and are still getting it and you think a mask is going to protect you? Lol. If you’re that gullible, just home school your kid.

Okay stupid. The OP asked about covid cautious schools. I have an example of how one school is not. Everyone knows that home schooling is the only completely preventative way. The OP didn’t ask that., you damn idiot.

Maybe there are special schools getting started for those who live with sick and elderly high risk people. I’m sure it can be accommodated. Like we School or something. There’s truly something for everyone.

How do people still not understand how vaccines and masks work? Good quality masks prevent and limit transmission of an airborne upper respiratory virus. Vaccination reduces symptoms and risk of hospitalization of those who get infected. Both used together are the best mitigation strategy.

Hey moron with zero reading comprehension skills. That poster was responding to another poster complaining about a school not enforcing masks after a notification went out that’ there was an exposure. Pot meet kettle.

Yet people wearing masks 24/7 and vaxed to the hilt are still getting Covid….
