Worst ideas you have tried from DCUM

Absolutely! I’ve had enough sense not to follow any of it. Generally the advice is not to seek help from financial experts.

You are probably the person I offended today by saying advisors angle for their 1% management fee. Am not against financial advisors for those who know little about finance or can't be bothered to deal with it. It's a real service that could be worth the fee for them.

There is a lot of parenting advice here geared toward parenting 15-18 year olds that is completely unrealistic.

Same

Same here sadly.

Anonymous wrote:That Nigella Lawson recipe for some kind of anchovy pasta dish. I swear I read about it here, followed it precisely, and it was absolutely awful. I will never make another one of her recipes.

For me it was the chickpea stew by Allison something. Incredibly bland, and the turmeric permanently stained my countertops (my fault, but still annoying)

Have you tried bleaching your countertops? With just Clorox. Worked for me.

Same here! But I've held onto it nonetheless...

Didn’t work for my hair either.

Me, either. I have fine thin hair though so I don’t think there is much hope for me. Does the revlon hair dryer tend to work better for women with thick hair?

I have fine, thin hair and it works really well for me! I only use it for a minute after mostly air drying, so maybe that helps?

Jay-zuzz.... that thang probably smelled like one of Nigella Lawson's recipes. That must have been awful.

Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant worked nice on my skin until I got an allergic reaction on my eyes and finally traced it back to this product- have met others with the same issue now.

Agree that the person who posts about personal hygiene through utilizing coconut oil doesn't seem to understand that stank + coconut oil is still stank. You just smell like a promiscuous coconut who hasn't showered.

I tend to vet sources so have not gone wrong with recipes/clothes/products but there are some really messed up people/horrible feedback on the family/relationship forums so I think those are the forums in which to be careful.

I stopped at the worst rest stop I've ever stopped at on the way to Ithaca based a rec from DCUM. It was in PA along the Susquehanna and it was far from idyllic.

“Promiscuous coconut” might be one of my favorite things I’ve ever read on this site.

The NYT chicken shawarma recipe that is always suggested. Bland.

I have medium thick wavy hair and I love the Revlon hair dryer. I do you use living proof heat protectant spray with it every time and I only wash and dry my hair every other day.

Did you get the ones with the cover photos where he looks like a sadist? Gave me nightmares in college.

Umm, it is just one huge tome of his collected works. The cover has an obfuscated view of his face wearing John Lennon glasses and an intellectual vibe in sepia tones. Ukrainian Russian Jews experienced so much sorrow and loss during that era, that I would be hard pressed to smile myself.

It is very sad he was murdered as an enemy of the state by Stalin’s fascist death squads. Reading about that will give me nightmares.

NYT Shawarma. Have none of you people ever being to the Middle East?! That was an extremely poor version!

.

I agree with other posters that "the stew" chickpea dish is bland and not tasty as written, but must defend this NYT chicken recipe. Are your spices fresh? Especially the paprika, and it must be the smoked kind. I also add in the zest from the lemons.
